Materials required.

Green for tree, brown for trunk and red for base.  Add 48 beads to Wsh2 before starting the main tree.  A star bead can be added to the top when the bell is assembled.

Skills Required.

Knowledge of split rings.

NB.  All picots on the rings and split rings in round 3 and onwards join behind the chains of previous rows.

 

Using Wsh1

Centre Ring    2 – 2 – 2 – 2  see Fig. 1

 

Round 1

SR1:     leave a false picot before starting 1 / 2 ^ 2 ^ 2 ^1

SR2:     1 +(next p centre ring) 1 / 2 ^ 2 ^ 2

SR3:     as SR2

SR4:     1 +(next p centre ring) 1 +(1st p SR1) 2 ^ 2 / 2  see Figs. 2 - 4

 

 

 

Round 2

Ch:       4 B 4 +(^ on SR4) ^ *4 B 4 (^ on next SR of Rnd1) repeat from * joining final part of Ch to base of 1st part of Ch

 

Round 3

SR5:     1 – 2 / 1 – 2

Ch:       ^ 5 B 5

R6:       2 +(p on SR5) 1 +(base of next Ch on rnd 2) 1 – 2

*Ch:     ^ 5 B 5

R6:       2 +(p last R) 1 +(base of next Ch on rnd 2) 1 – 2

Repeat from * joining R12 to p on SR5 followed by another Ch  Join this to the base of SR5

The following three rounds continue in the same way moving from row to row with split rings.

Work rounds 4, 5 & 6 taking the ring joins under the chains of the previous row.

1st row – from bottom to top

2nd row – top to bottom

Assembling

Stiffen the trunk by placing over a knitting needle, using your preferred stiffening agent.  Remove when dry.  Stiffen the tree itself arranging the branches as required.  Take a thread through the top 3 picots of the trunk, up through the centre of the tree and through a star bead at the top.  Tie a loop and hang!!!
