Two Stage Dimple Ring (aka Yorkie Dimple) 2008

This is a variation on how to make a dimple ring NOT a new technique.  Sherry Pence has nicknamed it "Yorkie Dimple" which sounds like a smile :-)

To ease closing on completion and for a neater finish, drop a loop of the core thread halfway through working the count for the dimple.
Basic Dimple Ring sample
R: 10 vsp 7  + (vsp) 10 clr

10ds vsp (equal to width if 2ds so it butts up tight when joined)
Work 3 full ds and 1st half of the next ds = 3.1/2 stitches
Hint: it's best to pull through more thread for around the hand
Work second half stitch, then three more ds
Check core still slides as that half stitch can jump back.
It is best held in the "flat pinch" until join of dimple completed.
Work 10ds, close in two stages BUT do not post the shuttle through the loop:
1.  Pull on left hand side of dropped loop to close base of ring
2.  Now pull on the shuttle thread (close to the work) keeping a finger in the dropped loop until nearly closed (remember to take it out or you'll be forever wearing it! LOL)
Further Notes
* This idea can be worked into any existing dimple ring pattern although it seems to close better with an "uneven count" for the dimple.
* By adding extra stitches a dimple can substitute rings in an existing pattern
* This method means you can do very large dimples and it will close easy
* It produces even rings time after time
* Also means you can put several dimples into the same ring
* You could even dimple chains evenly using this method

Hopefully this will encourage more use of this lovely old technique.
