Originally designed for the Palmetto Tatters Tat Days in 2007.  Sid introduced himself at the weekend in people's salads.  Another of the pests who seem to infect the tat days when I'm around!

 

Materials required:

2 shuttles, small amounts thread, 3 beads for the body, 1 bead for the eye.

 

Abbreviations:

SR

split ring

vsp

very small picot

Vlp

very long picot

move bead on core thread close to previous ds (this will be on the second half of the 1st SR)

S

DPB

drop picot with bead – make 2 of 1st half ds, move B into position, make 2 of 2nd half ds

 T & C

 tie and cut

 

Instructions:

Add 3 (scintillating beads) followed by 1 bead (eye) to Sh1 thread & tie shuttles together.

Put bead at back of hand & starting 1” from knot on both parts of SR – work as follows.

 

SR1:  2 Vlp (1” to 1½" long) 2 vsp 1 / 3 MB (core thread) 2 vsp 1 Cl.  Place bead @ back of hand before starting next SR

SR2:  1 + (vsp SR1) 2 DPB 2 vsp 1 / 1 + (vsp SR1) 4 vsp 1 Cl.  Place bead @ back of hand before starting next SR

SR3:  1 + (vsp SR2) 2 DPB 2 vsp 1 / 1 + (vsp SR2) 4 vsp 1 Cl.  Place bead @ back of hand before starting next SR

SR4:  1 + (vsp SR3) 3 DPB 3 / 1 + (vsp SR3) 6 T & C

Tie a knot in the Vlp and trim to make the second feeler.
