The Bollocks Page: Books

2. From Colour Scents: healing with colour & aroma by Suzy Chiazzari, pub. C.W. Daniel 1998.

p113: Benzoin: …this viscous oil….Benzoin is usually sold dissolved in ethyl glycol or lexane (sic).

Comment: Benzoin resinoid is a hard brittle solid produced by alcohol (ethanol) extraction of the gum. Mobility can be ensured by leaving a few percent of ethanol in the product: this is the best product to use on toxicity grounds. Do not use products dissolved in ethyl glycol or hexane (these are not normally available: safer products are those dissolved in benzyl benzoate, or, better, dipropylene glycol).
