The
consultants at Martec are "competent persons" within the meaning
of The Noise at Work Regulations 1989, and are therefore able to carry out
a wide range of on-site investigations where employees are likely to be
exposed to high noise levels.
We can make recommendations for reducing the risk of hearing damage through evaluation of employee daily personal noise exposures. Advice is given to employers and employees of their respective duties under The Regulations. Assessments have been made at a wide range of work places, from standard industrial premises, through entertainment venues such as pubs and clubs to the proof testing of an elephant gun on a rifle range; for this last test, we initially requested that 20 rounds be fired; however when we were informed that each round cost £50 and caused the firer to recoil two feet, we revised our request to just 5 rounds.
