"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful" (Nelson Mandela). | ||
Alongside being a musician I have had 10 years of experience and training in person-centred, psychodynamic and Gestalt therapy, working with individuals, couples and groups. I am a Relate Certified Counsellor and an M.A. in Gestalt Psychotherapy (Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, validated by University of Derby) and should be a registered member of United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) by the time you read this. I have worked for Relate and NHS Psychotherapy Clinic (on a voluntary basis), and have a private practise in Lancaster. I work to UKCP's professional code of ethics and practice and receive regular supervision. My work is grounded in Gestalt but not dogmatically so. I see psychotherapy as a way of enhancing self awareness - how you are what you are, what helps and what limits you. It's a place to find out about yourself and experiment with doing things differently, to think the unthinkable and say the unsayable in a relatively safe environment. Using a holistic approach which focuses on the here and now, I offer individuals and couples the opportunity to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviour within a confidential and supportive but challenging relationship. I've expanded my interest in music and football to run workshops on both. "Ballwatching" offers fans an opportunity to look at the significance of football in their lives and "Making Music, Playing A Life" explores ways of using sound, music and drumming in particular, to develop self-awareness. |
