A Self Made Hero
Director: Jacques Audiard
France, 1995, 105 mins.
Shy, wholly unremarkable Albert remains a timid, impoverished nobody until the end of World War II when, through a mixture of luck, determination and downright lies, he manages to pass himself off as a Resistance hero. One of the hits of last year's Cannes Festival, this film won Audiard and fellow co-writer Alain le Henry the prize for best screenplay.
