WILLIAM CANTON

William Canton was a writer and journalist best remembered now for A Child's Book of Saints although a hundred years ago his collections of stories and poems written for his daughter were widely appreciated: The Invisible Playmate; W.V. Her Book; and (after her death at the age of eleven) In Memory of W.V. I've always liked his writing style (if not always the content) except for his over-enthusiasm for semicolons, and since none of his work seems to have been reproduced on the Net I decided to upload some of it here, now that he's in the public domain (William Canton died in 1926). I'll add further items to those here, as occasion serves.
