A DOUBLE TEN!

GRAND CELEBRATIONARIES DUE

Thems-what's-counting will spot that the next Sufffick Trudge is our 20th.  That means ten years of bi-yearly jaunts into the regions of nether can be celebrated on our come-one-come-two-come-all seaside saunter this coming Easter Sunday.  Undaunted by critique, we aim to expertly reproduce exactly the same ride as last year: some 30 miles of gentle shallow hills, plus a little beaten track to end on the pier at Southwold for luncheon and a gaze at the stars of wireless, gramophone and TV media types.

The date?  Sunday April 12th: set off at 11:00 after having gathered and examined many a box of tired ex-cycle jumble bits and unwanted shed ballast for an hour accompanied by tea and buns.  No need to book anything: just turn up at Marlinspike Hall, address below.  We can provide room to camp the night before, please ring to warn us though and we will ensure all the patients are locked up that evening.

FLOUNDERING IN FLANDERS

There can be no excuse: after triumphing at last year's event we plan to re-visit Oouudenaaarrrd again to ride the Retro Ronde: a truly memorable easier version of L'Eroica, great atmosphere, easy to get to, lovely company (hem, hem), easy riding, grand beer festivals and Euro Pop Sminky Pinky.  All takes place on June 28th, make your own way there or join us in the fun, we drive but rail is a good option too.  Those of you with an electronic abacus may like to "check out" http://www.rvv.be/en/museum/activities/retroronde.

GO WEST YOUNG MAN

To ride a fine circuit on Friday July 31st based at Prescott Hill Climb near Gotherington, Glos.  It's a fine 25-mile spin plus on Sunday (2nd) there is a race UP this historic course. Camping is encouraged and our Victorian Steam Driven Cinema will be in action Friday and Saturday nights again.  The end of that month (31st) threatens another Spoke and Steam ride, though, seeing as in involves old railway matter and cups of tea, should that not be Smoke and Steam?  Details of all the starts to this will be in Newson Views, the V-CC organic pipe organ.

MORE DIARY SILAGE

THE CAMBRIDGE 50

Is on Sunday June 28th, absolutely NO NEED to introduce this grand ride.  Those who know the ride and the cakes will confirm the splendour.  Details on page 7

THE WENLOCK OLYMPIAD

There are those of us brave enough to venture west: to Much Wenlock on Sunday July 12th to harvest medals galore in the oldest event of its kind in the world. A stiff 25-mile time trial plus a few races for thr plucky thereafter usually justify full pub refreshment afterwards.

YE DUNWICH DYNAMO

Rumours abound that some of us may be game enough to chance a visit to 'London' only to escape, cleverly, on two wheels overnight back up to the delights of Dunwich (hence the ride's title).  A good turn-out may show these townies not to meddle in our country ways (as they offer us soup and help to mend our punctures on-route).

There is bound to be an August special club ride again on Monday 31st too.

Further details for all events, call Cally on 01 98 67 84 664, or Mick Madgett on 01379 642 735.  Send some postage stamps should you want to take up further issues: Marlinspike Hall, Walpole, Halesworth, Suffolk, IP19 9AR.
