AN APOLOGY

By our Publlsher Karen Dash

The Editors of the Twisted Spoke wish it to be known that they share no responsibility for the apparent 'dumbing down' of the current issue.  In no way are they to blame for the gratuitous sexual innuendo suited more to 'Top Gear' (Sturmey-Archer 4th) than a respected long-lived journal such as theirs.  Besides, if they were given extra pages, she may have made it to page 3.  As it is there is just this one.

COMETH THE TRUDGE

It's that time of the year again: April 24th, a suitable escape from Easter He-Nannigans, will see a goodly amount of riders depart from Madinspike Hall at 11:00 pedaling some 20 miles to Southwold via Dunwich for Eyes Cream getting to The Southwold Pier at about 1:00 for lunch.  No need to book either lunch or ride, just turn up.  Join in half way if preferred.  Cyclejumble starts at 10:;00 over tea, buns and hot debates, turn out those sheds! Address below. Tea and buns ensue at the end too, route maps available at the start.  All welcome, all eras of cycles too.

This year is packed with rides, all details will be in the rival journal 'News And Views' available to fully paid up members of the V-CC (Eastern Veteran-Cycle Club).  These include a ride to London for The Tweed Run, (April 7th) The Boulogne Ride (May 29th) A special Paris to London ride on 6th - l0th of June, High Bicycle Racing at The Nocturne in London on June 11th, plus a grand sight-seeing ride the day after, The Retro Ronde in Belgium on June 26th and more besides.  Cally has most of the details of these, just ask.  The year ends with L'Eroica in Tuscany (October 2nd) and another Trudge on October 16th, but let's not talk about winter just now.

THE MONTHLY CYCLE

All can be discussed on a monthly basis at The Scole Inn near Diss.  We meet at 7 for 7:30 on the last Monday in every month where ale can be quaffed.  Once the poor state of the beer is established and agreed, Gas lamps are lit and we cycle some 5 miles off to another pub for fine ale and food, banter and bile.  Lap-top dancing yet to be arranged (though any sort of computers are welcome).

Further details for all events, call Cally on 01 98 67 84 664, or Mick Madgett on 01379 642 735.  Send some postage stamps should you want to take up further issues: Marlinspike Hall, Walpole, Halesworth, Suffolk, IP19 9AR.
