LYDDEN REPORT.

Qualifying

Not a good start to the day. Car started and ran well until going onto the track where it had a constant misfire. Came in and checked plug leads etc were on but everthing seemed ok so I went back on track to get 3 laps in. The car cleared itself with a couple of laps left so I didn’t get much track time for a good qualifying. Ended up 25th, not bad considering.

Saturday race

Started 8th on the grid in the B race. Had a flying start straight up to 5th and got stuck behind Leslie Ott. I couldn’t manage to work him and had hilary Howlett chasing me again.
A couple of laps went by in that situation until Hilary got by me and Ott. Neat I could see a flying Matt Potter coming up so I spent more time defending than chasing. Ended up staying just in front of him over the finish line to finish 6th.
Paul Mcmillan won the race with Parkes, Roughton and Wright 10th , 11th and 12th respectively.
The final was won by Paul Taylor with the race being stopped early after an accident with Stanway, Ridd and Sheehan. It looked quite a nasty accident and it was good to see everyone alright.

Sunday Racing.

The lap times for Sunday’s race were set with the fasted laps in Saturday’s races. All this meant I was 10th on the grid in the B race. Old man Roughton was lined up beside me with Gareth Wright in front and Gary Parkes behind me. Old man Roughton got a rolling start by setting off when the 2 min board came out ( he needs all the help he can get).
Anyway a good race with Parkes getting the better of me but spinning on the start straight and joining at the rear which meant I was hten chasing Smoking Joe Wright. After a cpule of laps I managed to get by which made my vision a lot better and then I was chasing down Roughton and Ott with a fiesta in between us. This managed to spin in front of me and by avoiding this gave me more of a gap to fill in. I slowly reeled them in with Ott getting the better of Roughton and with only 2 laps to go I didn’t manage to work th old man.

First time at the track and quite enjoyed it. Mallory next where I need to pull my finger out if I want to finish top ten in the championship.
