Qualifying.

The weather was a bit intermittent but not wet enough for wet tyres. At the last minute it came over black so I quickly changed to wet tyres and whilst in the assembly area it started to rain so I thought I had made the right choice . Then it stopped.
The trck got drier and drier and I was more and more sliding. Qualified 15th and was pleased considering the tyre choice but I wasn’t really sure hoe the car was handling as I had changed my front springs again.

Race

15th on the grid, dry track and the right tyres. Gave a wave to Carl Townend as he was behind me so I had to make the most of it because he has been getting away from me just lately. Made a good start and was chasing old man Roughton on the first lap running 13th. His car wasn’t handling very well and I got by on the second lap. I was then chasing Hilary Howlett ( again) and Gordon Macmillan. I got by Hilary and tried a bit too hard to get by Gordon and went off the track. Got back on only losing three places including Steve Gordon who seemed to be struggling. Anyway I finished 9th which equals my best result and the car’s handling was a lot better. Will have to see if I can keep up the momentum for Snetterton.

Other locals.
Old man Roughton finished one place behind me. I believe Paul Macmillan was 5th ( to far in front for me to count anyway). Gary Parkes finished 7th but was excluded for being underweight. ( It was a good race anyway and I don’t believe the extra weight will make much difference). Martin Boon had a solid race to finish mid field in the B race and Gareth Wright has got to stop blowing up engines as he was in with a chance of winning the B race.

Carl Townend finished two places behind me and if he got an early night like me he might have been in a better state to concentrate on the job in hand.
I heard a rumour that Tony Scarlett bought a round of drinks while I was called up for my food. I would like to put a stop to these rumours as they are not funny and could do considerable damage to his reputation. ( is that good enough Carl. I wouldn’t like to say I was put up to it ).
