1.    Executive summary

The final report of “European and Middle East Market Entry Project” of Andela Recycling mainly consists of Market Analysis and Recommendation.

 

Based on the understanding of the overall glass recycling industry and the target country identified before the interim report, the IB team concentrated on in-depth investigation of the glass recycling industry in Spain. The research is mainly conducted through field research and the scope includes both down-stream and up-stream sectors in the industry.

 

In the Market Analysis, the current position and interests of different stakeholders, such as processors, government bodies, associations, etc, are described and the economics of the industry are analysed. From the Market Analysis, the opportunities, as well as options which are not feasible for the time being for Andela are identified. In the final part of this report, a template is developed which can be applied to targeting potential markets and spotting possible opportunities when expanding into other countries.

 

Two opportunities have been identified for action. Firstly the sale of processing and windshield stripping equipment, which requires the appointment of a local distributor. Secondly the sale of crushed glass into the high value ‘designer’ decorative ceramic market.
