Situated in Bowness Bay, we are conveniently sited to offer easy access to both the North and South Lake Areas, and can be reached from the Lake by boat to the Club Jetties or by car via Glebe Road where there are ample parking facilities.  Whichever way you travel, you can be sure of a warm welcome in convivial surroundings.
The Club was founded in November 1965 as a private Members Club to provide a family club with facilities for all types of craft, the common aim is an interest in sailing or cruising on Lake Windermere.  In keeping with these objectives, the club promotes and provides several types of activities.
There is a programme designed for those eager to take part in racing events held under recognised R.Y.A. rules with appropriate handicap status.  Events are also designed to cater for less competitive sailors who prefer a more leisurely pace, all competitors being rewarded with points, pennants and trophies
MOTOR CRAFT
Events are held to add further interest for those members who prefer power boats to sailing yachts.
The clubhouse consists of spacious premises with access for Club Members to toilets and showers 24 hours a day.

A varied social Calendar endeavours to provide a programme of activites for all members of the family.  Members who do not take part in activites on the water can enjoy a quiet drink and a chat and enjoy the splendid views from the clubhouse.

Whilst the Lake District Boat Club actively promotes on the water events, it is not essential to be own a boat to enjoy membership of the club.  We now have many members who are not boat owners and have joined the club to enjoy the many social events.

Full restaurant meals and bar snacks are available during licencing hours.
