EVENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Our Mission Prayer

Father in Heaven we rely on You in all things, For we are powerless without You. We offer you our Mission. May it be a time of healing and renewal.

May your Light shine upon us all.  May we receive your blessings and know that they come from You.  May we become Your apostles and witness to the world that Your kindness is infinite, Your forgiveness unending, for Your love for us has no bounds.  May we allow You to enter our lives more fully and may we share the joy of knowing You with all around us.  Amen.

THEMES FOR DAILY INTERCESSION PRIOR TO THE MISSION

3rd – 18th November

September

Pray for the outpouring of the fruits of the spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Pray for all the Mission preparations.  Ask God’s blessing to fall upon the host families, the co-ordinators, the cooks and all those who have been, and will be working so hard to make the Mission run smoothly.

CONSULTATION – In July,  I distributed  a Consultation Paper to everyone at the Sunday Masses, inviting prayer, reflection, comments and suggestions by mid-September.  Very few have been received, all verbal.  If you did not get a Consultation Paper or have lost yours, please ask the Parish Office for a copy.  Most, though, not all, of the few who have commented, think that the uniting of the two parishes of Annunciation and St Edmund Campion will be sensible and realistic pastorally and administratively.

The proposed adjustment of Mass times produced some disappointment at Annunciation, but no better alternative was suggested.  We are fortunate that the proposed changes are so minor.  To end the current overlapping of Masses on Sunday and Holyday morning, it is proposed that the times of Mass on Sundays at Annunciation will be 8.00 am, 11.00 am & 6.30 pm, and at St Edmund Campion , 6.30 pm on Saturday and 9.30 am on Sunday.  On Holydays, the Masses at Annunciation will be 7.30 am & 8.00 pm and at St Edmund Campion they will be at 7.30 pm on the vigil and 10.00 am on the day.  People are asked to travel even more freely between the two churches and to develop a bond of identity and a sense of belonging to both churches.

When two parishes join together the two names are usually incorporated in the name of the new parish.  Thus, ours would become The Annunciation and St Edmund Campion.  As this is likely to be shortened, in everyday conversation, to ‘The Annunciation’, I thought that the congregation at St Edmund Campion would prefer an entirely new name to be chosen for the new parish.  As it turns out, no one at St Edmund Campion seems to be concerned about this.  In fact, those most likely to be unhappy have, upon enquiry, seemed quite indifferent to the name.  If this is the case m and if a united parish comes about then it will be called The Annunciation & St Edmund Campion.
PLEASE LET ME HAVE ANY FURTHER COMMENTS OR SUGGESTIONS BY SEPT 16TH THANK YOU AND KEEP PRAYING ABOUT THIS!

 Fr Tony.
