PARISH MISSION

3rd  - 18th November

THIS WEEK  many Liturgies & events in both churches.  Please try to attend as many as possible.

 Parish Mission 2001 Annunciation & St Edmund Campion – rebuilding Christian Community in the 21st Century.  Entering more deeply into God’s Life Inviting Him more fully into ours’

Our Mission Prayer

Father in Heaven we rely on You in all things, For we are powerless without You. We offer you our Mission. May it be a time of healing and renewal.

May your Light shine upon us all.  May we receive your blessings and know that they come from You.  May we become Your apostles and witness to the world that Your kindness is infinite, Your forgiveness unending, for Your love for us has no bounds.  May we allow You to enter our lives more fully and may we share the joy of knowing You with all around us.  Amen.


ANNUNCIATION & ST EDMUND CAMPION CHURCHES WILL BE HOLDING A JOINT CHRISTMAS FAYRE – on 9th December in Annunciation Hall after 11.00 am Mass.  Stalls will include Father Christmas, Raffle, Tombola, Sweets, Cakes, Books, etc.  If you can contribute or help please contact Hilary Smith on 526296 or Margaret Jennings on 251163.

PARISH MAGAZINE – The next issue of the magazine will be out before Christmas after the Mission – cut-off date 9th December.  Please ensure all articles, news and views are handed in to the Presbytery by that date.   Help in collating the magazine would also be appreciated.  ST PETER’S SCHOOL

AND -  SIXTH FORM INFORMATION EVENING (PARENTS AND STUDENTS)– WED 14TH NOVEMBER AT 6.30 PM IN DE LA SALLE THEATRE  

A BIG THANK YOU TO THE SION COMMUNITY MISSION TEAM – who have worked very hard visiting nearly all of the addresses in the two parishes this last week.  I know there have been some very useful encounters, and on your behalf, I thank them for their hard work.  They are now leaving we welcome a new Sion Mission Team, who will lead the events of the second week of the Parish Mission.  (Fr Jim Flynn and John Paul will remain for the 2nd week.

 

A REMINDER TO ALL PARENTS OF CHILDREN,  - who will be making their First Holy Communion in 2002,  that there will be a meeting at St Walburga’s School at 7.30 pm on Thursday 22nd November 2001.

DIOCESAN YOUTH SUNDAY – PORTSMOUTH A full day of Music, Drama, Dance, Mime and Prayer for young people (11+), to reflect on the Pope’s message to young people to be the ‘Light of the World’.  Come  ‘Let your light shine’ with 200 other young people from around the Diocese.  For more details ring Michelle Andrew on 538376.

 

RETIREMENT OF FR MICHAEL PETERS  - ASSISTANT AT ANNUNCIATION 1976-77 – Anyone is welcome to St Mary’s College, Midanbury Lane, Southampton on Saturday 17th November 2001 from noon until 5.00 pm.  It is a come-and-go event to mark Fr Michael Peters retirement.  Side-shows, children’s games and a mixture of table-top items run continuously alongside a simple buffet.  There is also a display of Parish Life (1976-1977).  You are welcome to take away the exhibits, (which include views of St Thomas More School).  Details: 106 Cobden Avenue, SO18 1FS.  Tel Southampton 80558497

CELEBRATION OF TALENTS – Thank God for all our gifts.  Following the mission, there will be a party to celebrate this wonderful opportunity God has given to us to be more open to him throughout this mission time.  There will be an American Supper (bring a plate of food) on Sat 17th Nov at the 7.30 pm in the Large Hall.  If you have a talent, gift, then please share it with the parish on this celebration evening – contact Michelle Andrew on 538376.

Any young person or adult who has not yet been confirmed is invited to register for the Preparation Course.

Candidates must have been 12 years old by 1st September 2001 and, therefore, be in the 2nd year at the Secondary School.  The Confirmation Ceremony for the Bournemouth Deanery is planned for 9th and 16th July 2002.  PLEASE REGISTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE by completing the form at the foot of this week's bulletin and returnit to the Annunciation Presbytery.  If you need a form, please contact the Parish Office.
