In today’s reading Naaman and the Samaritan leper were offered and found faith,  Today the church offers ‘the gift of the revelation of God who is love’ to all people but with a deep respect for their  freedom to accept or reject  this gift.  We pray for the Mission of the Church next Sunday, World Mission Sunday

THE ORDER OF THE GOLDEN RAINDROP
……….is awarded to the gallant few who braved GALES AND RAIN AND FLOODS AND MUD to struggle through the 5 mile sponsored walk for Mission Funds last Sunday afternoon.  We were out in the very worst of it  and it certainly was memorable and though soaked to the skin for some, it was quite fun in a curious way.  WELL DONE EVERYONE!  Special commendation to Johathan Kane who raised a magnificent £150.00 – well done Jonathan!  All sponsors please give your promised sponsorship as soon as you can.  Thank you very much everyone.

St Walburga’s Catholic Primary School- Foundation Governor

Bishop Crispian, who has absolute discretion in the appointment of Foundation Governors, is seeking applications from committed baptised Catholics who wish to be considered for the above school.  The Governors of a Catholic School work as a team, in close co-operation with the headteacher and all staff. In addition to the legal responsibilities of the Governing Body, the foundation Governors have a responsibility for preserving the religious character of the school, sustaining and developing the school as a Catholic educating community in accordance with Canon (church) law, and the teaching of the Catholic Church, as giving clear witness, as individuals, and as a team, to the Gospel message and to the Church’s teaching.  Appropriate training is available during the period of service (from date of appointment until Aug 31st 2003.)  Lack of experience in education in a Catholic school should not deter anyone from applying if there is a genuine desire to serve the mission of the church.  Application packs are available from the Parish Office, School Office or Dept for Schools Governance, Park Place Pastoral Centre, Winchester Rd, Wickham PO17 5HA.  Closing date for receipt of application forms is 31/10/01

PLEASE PRAY FOR MRS PATRICIA BARNES – who is in hospital.

Our Mission Prayer

Father in Heaven we rely on You in all things, For we are powerless without You. We offer you our Mission. May it be a time of healing and renewal.

May your Light shine upon us all.  May we receive your blessings and know that they come from You.  May we become Your apostles and witness to the world that Your kindness is infinite, Your forgiveness unending, for Your love for us has no bounds.  May we allow You to enter our lives more fully and may we share the joy of knowing You with all around us.  Amen.

THEMES FOR DAILY INTERCESSION PRIOR TO THE MISSION 3rd – 18th November

October

Pray for the breaking down of any barriers and the removal of fears.  Pray that Jesus will reveal himself  more fully, in all our lives.  Pray that the Mission may really move in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Pray for good weather throughout the Mission.  Pray for a spirit of gentleness and sensitivity and for the gift of expectant faith; that we may see God’s glory and that people may turn to him in a deeper way.

Pray for the whole Parish at this very special time; that all may remain open to hear the message and be given the graces to respond.  Pray for a safe journey for the Mission Team and that they may really be made to feel very welcome during their stay with you
