MOVING
BAPTISMAL FONTS!- Did you know that the large stone font
near the sanctuary at St Edmund Campion church really belongs to
the Annunciation, and that the small wooden font at the back of
Annunciation church really belongs to St Edmund Campion (and the
person who gave it still attends Mass there and still regrets
the loss of it)?
When you think about it, they do look out of place.
The style of them suits the church for which they were
intended rather than the one in which they now are.
I would like to return them to their original homes, and
the Parish Pastoral Councils are in full agreement.
They were swapped over when there was a brief trend to
put the font in or near the sanctuary, and the stone one would
not fit at Annunciation.
The traditional liturgical view is now back in favour –
quite rightly – and the font should be near the church door,
because baptism concerns entry into the Church.
Please let me know by the end of the month whether you
have any strong view about this.
Thank you.
Fr Tony.

SOCIETY
FOR THE PROTECTION OF UNBORN CHILDREN - Call Your Mp Today –
The Government have said they are going to rush through emergency
legislation next week allegedly to ‘ban’ human cloning.
However, we understand that the Government’s bill only
bans ‘reproductive cloning’ – cloning for live birth.
We want MP’s to call for a ban on all types of
cloning including so-called therapeutic (destructive research on
cloned human embryos).
In fact, the only ethical way to stop
‘reproductive cloning’ is to ban the cloning of human embryos
altogether.
Please call your MP today on 020 7219 3000 and ask
him to call for a comprehensive ban on the creation of cloned
human embryos.
On another pro-life issue, namely UK government funding for
China’s one child policy, please ask your MP to attend a
briefing on Mon 26th Nov at 3.30pm, Moses Room, House
of Lords by Steve Mosher world authority on China’s one child
policy.
