Westbourne Orchestra

23^rd June, Annunciation

The orchestra will again be performing a concert in the Annunciation Church on 23^rd June.  Admission will be by programme on the door at a cost of £5.00 or £4.00 concession for senior citizens or students.  Families will be admitted for £10.00.  Highlights of the concert will be ‘Orpheus in the Underworld by Offenbach  Dvorak’s G Major Symphony  No. 8, Sibelius’ Finlandia  and Bach’s Concerto in D Minor for 2 violins.  For more details see flyers in both churches.The orchestra are keen to enlist a volunteer to aid them in selling Programmes at the door and  CDs’ and car stickers at the concert.  All proceeds after expenses will go to charity.  If you can help please contact Victor King on 01202 701759 or Brenda Sidebotham on 01794 514008

GRAND AUCTION OF PROMISES

Sunday 8^th July 2001

 

Help the mission by promising to do something from the following list:

Bake a cake/biscuits/bread/jam/pickles, etc. Cook a meal or afternoon tea and invite 1,2,3 people.  Do an hour’s housework., gardening, knitting, sewing, computer lessons, any craft, music lessons, driving lessons. Take someone shopping, paint a room.  More suggestions welcome.

 

You are more talented than you realise…  Each promise is entered into an auction catalogue and sold on the day to the highest bidder.  All profits to the Mission.  Wine and cheese served on the day.  A modest contribution required.

CHRISTIAN VIEWPOINT FOR MEN – an organisation which understands men’s concerns in the workplace and in the family .  Their teaching, help and encouragement has been appreciated by many men in this area.  A meeting and presentation by CVM will be held on 11^th June 2001 at 6.15 pm at the Slavanka  Christian Conference Centre and Hotel, 42 Belle Vue Rd, Southbourne.  The cost is £9.95 to include tea, finger buffet and glass of wine.  To reserve a place contact the Parish Office for reply slip.  Tel 513369.

ELECTION MEETINGS – apparently a meeting of all the candidates for the Bournemouth East Constituency was organised by the local churches last Tuesday.  Unfortunately, I was not informed, neither was the Dean.  Sorry !  As usual, the B’mth West MP refused an invitation to join a penel with the other candidates and so not meeting will take place …….nevertheless…..Many countries do not have the benefit of fair elections, or enjoy the right to vote.  THE RIGHT TO VOTE IS PRECEIOUS – DON’T WASTE IT, USE IT! – Resist apathy! – Pray for guidance!  VOTE ON THURSDAY
