Sentosa Island, Singapore

Dad, Mels and Rebecca cool off.

After a 10hr flight that had good food and some good films we arrived in Singapore.

As we came out of the airport and the doors slid open it felt like being hit in the face with a hot hairdryer. It was SO HOT.

We jumped into a taxi and drove to Sentosa Island to find our Shangri-la Rasa Sentosa Resort Hotel.
Our suitcases didn't fit in the boot properly so the taxi driver, who didn't speak any English, left the boot-lid open all the way to our hotel, they didn't look very secure but eventually we all arrived safely.

We had our tea outside on the terrace under the stars before going to bed.

Next morning we went to find the Monorail which is a train that travels in a circle right around the Island.
It is free to use and stops at all the different places of interest.

Firstly we went to Underwater World where we saw lots of weird animals including Dugongs (which people used to think were Mermaids).

Shark attack, Underwater World, Sentosa.

We also saw Sharks and Rays and a huge Octopus.

Sharks and Rays swim over our heads.

Next we went to the Butterfly Park and saw lots of beautiful butterflies and plants.

Sentosa Butterfly Park.

It was very, very, very hot and humid.

We then took a ride on the Cable-car which travels from Sentosa to mainland Singapore and back again.
It was really high (Mum hated it because she really hates heights) and it gave us some fantastic views.

Fountains close to the Merlion.

After a burger, icecream and watching a Parrot Show we went back to our hotel to do some swimming.

Our hotel pool.

We went onto the beach and got oil all over our feet.

For tea we went into the Silver Shell Restaurant and had one of the best meals we've ever had.
It was a buffet with every type of Asian food with all kinds of Seafood and Curries.
We ate lots of weird food including raw fish and jellyfish.

Once it was dark we jumped onto the Monorail and went to the famous Merlion Show.
The Merlion is a statue that is half Mermaid and half Lion.

Merlion Show.

We saw a Laser Show with water fountains and classical music, even though it was night-time it was still really hot.
This was the end of another COOL day.

The next morning we went swimming with Dad whilst Mum packed our suitcases for the last time.
There was a tropical thunderstorm, we played in the pool until a lady told us to get out because of the danger of lightning.

We jumped onto the Monorail for one last time to look at Fort Siloso which is an old army fort.

It was so hot we just had to have one last dip in the pool.

Happy days in our Hotel Shangri-la Rasa Sentosa Resort pool.

We then had a final farewell meal in the Silver Shell Restaurant.

Mum took us into the bar because she wanted to have a "Singapore Sling" which is a famous Cocktail drink.

Our taxi came to take us to the airport for our final 13 hour flight home on Singapore Airlines.
