Dogs in hats and wigs…

Anthropomorphism – ‘the attribution of human characteristics to animals’

These images are part of a series of implied narratives which place dressed dogs in human situations. One of the recurring themes of this work has been the investigation of the relationship between people and animals and how animal lovers tend towards an anthropomorphic interpretation of their animals’ behaviour. Love, kindness, sometimes sadness and guilt are often projected onto an animal. The tension between this projection and reality interests me and I have aimed to amplify this by creating moods that imply defiance, alienation, pathos, despair, loss and resignation; emotions that are very rarely anthropomorphised. Captions are short quotes from the lyrics of Bob Dylan.
