Once able to leave the nest, they learned in stages about getting around their 'home'. This one reached the top of the palm pot, but didn't relish jumping off. An old cork tray was the easier option, though with some hesitation.

Do I really have to slide all that way to join dad? I could swear he was appealing to his friendly human, who just happened to be kneeling down ready to catch small pigeon's efforts to extricate himself from the predicament of what goes up doesn't always want to come down.

After a while, naturally, the dreaded slide becomes the normal route for a pair of young pigeons answering father's call to stop lounging about in plant pots and get down to some lessons every pigeon needs to learn.

Now listen up, kids - this here's the neighborhood. And to see it, what we're going to do today is fly. Yes, that's right - fly! We pigeons do a lot of it, so you better start taking notice of your dad. What? Scared of heights? What kind of pigeon are you?
