What did people think about Jesus?
Jesus does not immediatiately heal the man. He said "You sins are forgiven".
The Friends
They may have been disappointed having gone to all the effort to get the man to Jesus they had hoped Jesus would make him walk.
The Pharisees and teachers of the Law
Only God can forgive sins to they thought Jesus has committed blasphemy by his claims.
Why Jesus did not heal the man first?
Jesus was not just a good man able to heal people. Healing was not enough. The man, and we all, need sins forgiven and Jesus can do that because of who he is.
