Social Calender

I would first like to go back to millennium night, when the Club put on a fantastic evening to suit all ages, attend by approximately 60 grown ups and 20 children from 1-15 years old. This event was put together by a small seed of an idea sowed, to put on our own created event, as the cost of any other function was way out of Club funding. So with the formation of a small committee backed up by members all mucking in we achieved a great result, including a fantastic spread, children's entertainment, and who will forget the performance of DJ TG (GINN-OLA DISCO) who probably could give up his day job. I would just like to say thank you to Toni Neaverson and her army of ladies who provided a superb buffet and Stuart Wotton who orchestrated the whole event with almost no cost to the club.

I have mentioned the above to show "what happened yesterday can be the new tomorrow" on functions etc.

At present we are running regular Cabarets using top artists on the last Saturday of every month, and will be probably doing 2 or 3 disco nights using our new found DJ in between.

The new committee formed is a very active one and further suggestions are being muted at this moment and of course our main event of the year Bonfire Night will be in the hands of our "Rocket Squad" who do such a brilliant job. Last year was the best attended so far.

Finally I would like to think the future looks rosy but remember

General Club Affairs

The club saw a radical change and probably a shock to one's system, when due to workload on individuals it became necessary for the Club to find a different way of running the bar, etc and after discussion it was decided that the Club appoint a steward, Sue Sutton. Six months down the line the bar is working very efficiently and profits have increased, by the Club adopting a more professional way of looking at this area of operation.

The appointment of a steward is a learning curve for all involved on both sides of the bar and will take time to evolve to its full fruition, of meals in the evenings, functions, bookings, etc., etc. The Club has already acquired a glass washer, till, CD player, different seating and the improvement to the pavilion internally will continue.

A decision has been taken to open the bar at 6pm on Saturday and Sundays during the cricket season.

Finally I would like to say that Sleaford Cricket Club is number one in my book, and cricket, bar and social should nil work as one to maintain our stature in the County.
