Hello again Bob-fans, total strangers here by accident, the merely curious, and those authorities responsible for policing the content of people's homepages (no filth here, just good old Bob and his thoughts...)

Here in England it's supposed to be summer, but it seems that global warming is yet to have an effect on UK weather. The last month was the wettest June this century, with rain on 26 out of 30 days (another record). Following the wettest April on record and the winter I experienced two years ago (which was the coldest this century) it has become evident that I am being targeted by the weather in some sort of trial by cold and rain.

In today's postcard I thought we'd have a look at a local institution over here - the Chalfont St Giles Village Show. The Village show has been running annually since the dawn of time and is a throwback to a more agricultural era. Although the show doesn't start until early September, I have managed to get hold of a pre-release copy of the rules book, which arrived through my letterbox in the midde of the night in a brown paper package. Some of the competition categories have got me all excited, so I thought I'd give you a sneak preview below. And if taking part wasn't exciting enough, some very generous prizes are on offer for the winning entry.

The Chalfont Beekeepers' Trophy +£1.50

I'm thinking about entering the Best Sandwich competition, although the chance of winning a trophy has got me toying with the idea of also doing a picture about beekeeping. I've done a rough sketch showing a beekeeper being stung to death by a thousand angry bees, but it needs work.

That's all for now, so stay out of trouble and make sure that you email me to let me know what you think of my site.

All the best, Bob
