One of an elite group of Rockabilly bands to achieve major commercial success, The Polecats were snapped up by Mercury Records in the early 1980's to rival the Stray Cats who were racing up the charts. Their first major label release - a revved up version of David Bowie's 'John I'm Only Dancing') was an immediate success and soon hit the top 30 - resulting in The Polecats making numerous TV appearances (including Top Of The Pops) and being splashed all over magazines like Smash Hits, Record Mirror etc.

Their flamboyant image and tendency to opt for covering songs which would never be considered by other Rockabilly bands (they have delved into the songbooks of Marc Bolan, David Bowie, and more recently The Buzzcocks and Prince) meant wide appeal outside of Rockabilly circles. However, despite working with the best producers available (Tony Visconti, Dave Edmunds etc) they stayed true to their cult Rockabilly following and never compromised by commercializing their sound.

More chart placings and TV appearances followed courtesy of 'Rockabilly Guy', 'Marie Celeste' and 'Make A Circuit With Me'. All of these songs are included on this collection.

Though all the members are successfully involved in other projects, The Polecats regroup and tour annually, and have recently played shows in the USA, UK and Europe.
