We are a club which meets fortnightly for fun and fellowship and, as a group, to also raise funds and carry out activities to benfit the local community.
The old adage 'you get out what you put in' is very true of Table.
Each Table varies, but we all have a common set of goals known as Aims and Objects. We are also a non-political and non-sectarian organisation.
Alton Round Table is part of the National organisation know as: Round Table Britain and Ireland (RTBI).
Table also has a sister organisation known as Ladies Circle, with similar Aims, and with close ties to Table, but of course you have to be a lady to join !
You name it we organise it, BBQ's, After dinner Speakers, visits to other Tables both in the Britain and abroad, Brewery visits, Fireworks Displays, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Cricket, Golf.... and anything a member of Table feels like organising ! Fundraising events are usually an important part of the Table calender, the major three being Christamas Float, any excess from the Fireworks Display (which is run as a Community Service event) and Rowlock Rally..
Throughout the Table year, there are events to involve partners and families so that they don't feel left out. We have ladies nights, Family Days Out and the Treasure Hunt.
Any young man between the age of 18 and 45. At the age of 45 a Tabler is effectively chucked out ! This helps keep the vitality of Table. On leaving Table, one can join the local 41 club, who support Table throughout the year.
There are no special criteria required to join Table, in fact looking at the current membership, we seem to take anyone! But on a serious note there has to be a level of commitment to be a Tabler.
Our Table currently has 15 members, from all walks of life, and five honoraries. An Honorary can be anyone, invited by the Chairman in his year of Chair ( and of any age).
