The following comments by Rovers fans have been copied from Blackburn ROVERS BBS days before he is sold off to Newcastle

By Rick (not RIK) on Saturday, September 25, 1999 - 07:13 pm:

Kevin Gallacher, the lads fantastic. OK sometimes he gets injured and he aint getting any younger, but come on he is still a great player

By Steven on Saturday, September 25, 1999 - 07:30 pm:

  Agreed

By Mat (Mat) on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 02:10 am:

Agreed also. Gally has been one of our most loyal, hard working and never - say- die players for almost 7 years. Okay so he may not be as good as 2 or 3 years ago but players as hard - working as Tim Flowers and Gally deserve more than to be chucked on the meat wagon as they age. Thoughts anyone?

By Random on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 11:07 am:

 AYE

By Tagnut on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 11:25 am:

Gallacher's intelligent running takes away defenders & creates more space for the other forwards. He's a class player & there's no doubt in my mind that he should be offered a new contract.

By seggie on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 11:53 am:

Gallacher's movement yesterday was top notch and he also notes the traditional Rovers style of play which is to try and get as many crosses in as possible.

  By Andy h on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 12:26 pm:

not only should he be offered a new contract but how about a job in the backroom when he retires ( youth team maybe ? )

By The Man who knows best on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 12:30 pm:

We look a much better side when he plays, he must stay.

By Paul on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 12:32 pm:

I was unable to go to yesterdays match, but even so Gally is so loyal and such a hard worker we can't just dump him.

By Rick on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 12:38 pm:

Oh good response, how about starting a petition at Ewood?

 By No. 7 Sub-Board on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 03:20 pm:

I don 't believe we should get rid of him either, but it looks as if we may well do. I know it's on Teamtalk about Sunderland's £400,000 bid for Gally, and even though I usually ignore Teamtalk, I've heard this from a very reliable source earlier this morn ing as well as them. (The source in turn says that he originally heard this from Gally's wife, who also said that he didn't hear until late that he was actually going to play yesterday, and I don't think he was too happy about the lateness. She is al so supposed to have corroborated the story about Kidd and Choccy having a fall out.)

By Gigi on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 04:42 pm:

If we get rid of Gally we have to be a rice krispie short of a toffie crisp.

By Mat (Mat) on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 04:50 pm

I think that all our comments should be sent to the club, if we get a MUCH longer list. Gally has been a faithful servant and deserves more than to be told that he's " surplus to requirement". Come on , we need more people on this list.

By Cotty (Cotty) on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 06:56 pm:

Gally rules ... What a fantastic performance v Walsall PROUD TO BE A ROVER

By Baz on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 07:38 pm:

Ooh Aah Gallacher, I say Ooh Aah Gallacher.

SAYING " GALLY MUST STAY "

By Sarah on Sunday, September 26, 1999 - 08:31 pm:

No doubt about it - GALLY MUST STAY! He deserves his contract. He's so lively and hard-working. Ewood would be a lesser place without him!

By Darren on Monday, September 27, 1999 - 12:39 am:

Gally should stay for a very different reason. I have two pet cats, named Colin Hendry and Kevin Gallacher. It would break their little hearts if he left! Does anyone else have pets named after current or ex Rovers players?

By Ash on Monday, September 27, 1999 - 02:08 pm:

No but i have an annoying scar on my left leg I call Hodgson. .... Gally must stay!!

By The exile on Monday, September 27, 1999 - 06:47 pm:

Course he should get a new contract - he's one of the best players we've had in the last few years, and shown loyalty when plenty of others haven't. And by the way he's still good enough to get into his national team.

By Scovell on Monday, September 27, 1999 - 09:19 pm:

Yes, give him a new contract. Loyalty should be rewarded, and he is a player of quality.

By Millennium Mann on Monday, September 27, 1999 - 11:28 pm:

You lot all go on about loyalty. what about wilcox??? You lot will be booing him tomorrow and sat. your a bunch of bloody hipocrites.

You don't care about loyalty as a personnal attribute, its just an easy cliche .............Regards John

By Andy W on Tuesday, September 28, 1999 - 10:55 am:

he should stay but he'll go

By Rhona on Thursday, September 30, 1999 - 04:00 pm:

He must stay He is a very unselfish player who's runs and movement are brilliant. He is a class skill player It would be madness to let him go If Peter Reed is interested in Gally does that not tell Kidd something about Gally's quality even if he can't see it himself Gally has also shown loyalty and it is very poor that he is being treated so badly now.

By Eric the Magpie on Friday, October 1, 1999 - 10:01 am:

 Too late, suckers!

By rosie on Friday, October 1, 1999 - 12:21 pm:

We always knew magpies were thieves - say no more Eric.

Fat Boy KiddThe Real Rik reckons.... The fans know who their good and bad players are. Managers come and go every few years, the fans are there for life. Managers often fall out with certain players and think they are over the hill when they are over 30. At Newcastle, Dalglish did it with Ginola, Gullit did it with Robert Lee. It looks as though Fat Boy Kidd has made a blunder by agreeing to sell "Gally" to Bobby Robson. Only time will tell if Bobby Robson has pulled off a masterstroke or not.

There are though some people who believe that Gallacher was signed for another reason, Ever heard of the CURSE OF LITTLE HUGHIE?

It's an Intriguing story READ ALL ABOUT IT HERE.
