Looking forward with Mystic Mag, Here is what the the future holds for Newcastle United. as predicted (01/01/99)

January 1999

A bit of a shaky start for Newcastle united. They just beat Palace to progress through to the next round of the cup. The following week they manage a shock win over high flying Chelsea. This is followed by another win away against Charlton with new boy Didier Domi having a great game. Finally we only manage a draw in the last game of the month but we are up to 10th in the league. No players sign up although Ketsbaia, and Hamilton are all sold. In the cup we get through an easy game against 1st division opposition and have a great night out at Beardos testimonial.

February 1999

We are drawn against Premiership opposition this month in the fifth round of the cup. Its an away tie, We manage a goalless draw, the return leg at St James sees our new Portugese winger take a staring role and we win 3 - 1 to progress through to the Quarter final. In the league we annihilate both Coventry and Southampton. Finally Sky viewers from around the world watch Newcastle take revenge on Arsenal for the FA cup final by beating them 2-1 , another 10 points out of 12 sees us upto 8th.

March 1997

A week before the transfer deadline we sign a top Dutch playmaker. Then on "D" day Gullit shocks the world by paying £12 million for a Ukrainian striker, the papers read "Shearer set to go in the Summer " again. With Celtic the favorites to sign him after the successful take over by the Kenny Dalglish consortium. Gullit and Shearer both deny it saying our new player is there for cover. The FA cup Quarter finals sees us play against MAN UNITED AWAY.The Cup game is a disaster, the dirty Scum nobble Dunc in the first half, Shearer is serving a suspension so that just leaves our new Ukrainian up on his own. Despite a valiant effort by the lads we lose 3 - 2. Dunc is going to be out for a good few weeks (again)and Shearer isn't looking as sharp as in recent weeks .In the league, a home win against the Scum and one away from home sees another 6 points in the bag and Europe is looking like a strong possibility

April 1999

. We start the month on a bad footing losing at home in a busy month that sees us getting just 8 points out of a possible 15. Meanwhile revelations are made that 3 Man United players were tested positive in a drugs test. They are thrown out of the FA cup and Docked 10 league points. Newcastle are re instated in the cup. They play Villa at Old Trafford in the semis, and win 2 -1. Another final looms. Shock finalists Sunderland will be there in an all North east Final.

May 1999

Just 4 points from a possible 9 sees Newcastle only managing 4 points. It's still enough to see us finish in 6th place. The Makems are full of themselves as they make the long trip hand in hand with their Geordie friends (I am trying to promote peace and harmony here ).It's a thrilling game with Goals from Shearer , Domi, Solano and the new Ukrainian bloke plus The new Portugese bloke and Shearer again and Shearer from a penalty and then another from errm Given...Yes he got to take the second penalty as Shearer already had his hat trick. That made it 8 .....no hang on there goes another one and it's Howey showing his hometown club how to play. The poor Mackems are distraught what will next year bring them when they are up against proper Football teams. (relegation I suppose)

June 1999

The close season sees the take over of Newcastle United. In the end The Sultan of Brunei Buys up Newcastle United after persuading NTL that they could have the TV rights if he could have the club for his son to play with. The Sultan (Jnr ) is quick to dispense with the services of Mr Shepherd who was hoping to hold on to the chairmans job. Great euphoria sweeps Tyneside as the New Chairman arrives at St James park in a helicopter along with The Sultan. It's the third coming of The messiah this time as Chairman. A new wave of optimism sweeps Tyneside with new Chairman keegan along side Mr Gullit, We can't help but attract the best players.

July 1999

Pre season sees a number of departures from SJP. Gary speed follows Warren Barton (sold in February)to London. Andersson says he will be happy playing again in Scandinavian, Trellborgs say they have a bargain at £2 million. John Barnes is revealed as the new presenter of the Newcastle United Football channel. And Stuart Pearce is back as manager of relegated Notts Forest after Harry Basset takes over at Birmingham. Speculation Grows over the future of Shearer he is tipped to move to Celtic, but in an 11th hour Deal moves to Juventus. There is no money involved from either club, we get the now fully fit again Allesandro Del Piero.

August 1999

is there life after Shearer???? Too right there is , Big Dunc is fully fit again and makes a great start along side Del Piero. They score 4 in the first game, well its only Man United. Who are still reeling after Sky TV Pulled out of takeover talks and opted to takeover Chelsea instead. Without Alex Ferguson, who recently went to Italy, Man United just aren't the team they were. Even with Big Ron back at the helm it looks like they will be struggling with relegation this year.

September 1999

September sees Newcastle kick off there European campaign. Zinedine Zinedane just makes it in time to be eligible for the first game . Inter Milan are a breeze and we win 2 - 0 away from Tyneside followed by a 3 -0 home win. The season is going well and we are 2nd in the league despite only drawing 3 of this months games.

October 1999

Ruud sees the problem is in Midfield due to Lee bring out he buys Brazilian for a world record fee of £22 million. Its money well spent as we knock Cska Moscow out of Europe and go to the top of the league after a thrilling 4 - 3 win AT ANFIELD.

November 1999

Digital Season tickets are launched by NTL. they are a big hit with Newcastle now recognised as a major force in Europe. The first screening will be next month on boxing day. over 250 million are set to watch worldwide They Stumble at the Now Sky owned Chelsea, only managing a 2 -2 draw, this could be due to the choice of referee (no names mentioned ) giving the Home side 2 penalties. There are no action replays on this Sky shown match, apparently due to technical problems. Poor Ferguson has his leg broken and is then sent off for screaming obscenities at wise for the two footed tackle. He will be out for up to 4 months.

December 1999

Revenge is sweet, 270 million Viewers around the world tune in for the first ever world wide season ticket match. It's Newcastle United (still on a high after their 4 - 0 away win at old Trafford Last week) at home to fellow table toppers Chelsea. The viewing audience are not disappointed with Newcastle winning 3 - 0. Tore Andre Flo asks for a transfer after the match , after only being used as a sub. Chelsea soon agree a £13 million deal to bring the Norwegian to Tyneside. he makes his debut in the New years game against Sunderland at the stadium of shite and scores a brace in Newcastle united 6 - 0 win. Plummeting Sunderland deeper into the relegation zone along with Man United who have just replaced big Ron with canny Kenny who has just recovered from a heart attack after the bankruptcy of his Celtic Consortium in October. Meanwhile in the New years honors list Ruud Gullit is given an OBE and Kevin Keegan is given a knight hood off the queen as is bought the Isle of White by his pal the sultan.

Unfortunately the world Ends as the Russian's computers can't cope with the millennium bug and world war 3 starts on the 2nd January 2000 You still have   year, months, days, hours, minutes, and seconds to enjoy yourself.
