Where did that £128,980,075 go again? Since Sir john Hall took over the club , Newcastle united have spent £129 million on players. They have sold £71 million which works out at something in the region of £8 million a year on new players. The big spending started back in 1992 when Newcastle turned the corner and became a club that buys more players than it sells in an attempt to make us one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Ruud Gullit is spending slightly more than he is recouping. The days of getting £20 -£30 million for new players without selling the "old Stock" seem long gone.
