Sunderland have no future!

Thats the only conclusion that you can come too after BOTH of Newcastles youth teams once again thrashed BOTH of Sunderlands teams this time it was at their place in whitburn.(19/12/98)

Sunderland U17s' 0 - 4 Newcastle United U17's

Shola, la la la la shola, la la la la shola.First up are Kerr, Amoebi and co. with a good old thrashing for the Makems. It didn't look like it would turn out that way though as Sunderland were awarded a penalty in the FIRST minute. Collins was supposed to have pushed Marchant in the box. No no no no no the feeble Makem just fell over. Any way up steps Harry Ramsden (a Sunderland player) and shoots the ball towards the far corner. Steve Grindlay our young keeper makes a fine diving save to save the lads on this occasion. Collins wasn't having a brilliant game and in the 26th minute he was replaced by Kevin Weallans. The Sunderland lads did have the better of the first 30 minutes but it was first blood to Newcastle in the 39th minute. Gordons free kick found an unmarked Kevin Weallans in the box and he slots in an easy goal. Five minutes later it's the turn of Nigerian Shola Amoebi to show a bit of skill. He took the ball to the byline and made a fine cross. Young Weallans was once again in the right place at the right time , his header finding the far corner of the net. Half time and it's 2 - 0.

The Second half saw Weallans complete his hat-trick. It came in the 72nd minute when he latched onto a cross from Wrighty. With 6 minutes left on the clock Kerr made it 4 and Newcastle sent out a resounding message to the makems .

Sunderland have no future!

Next up are the big lads, out to make it four wins from 4 in the T/ W youth derbys this year. last time out it was a 4 - 1 thrashing. Instrumental in that game was a certain young lad by the name of Aaron Hughes. He was playing on a bigger stage today.

Paul knight did well but was replaced by super sub, James CoppingerNewcastle took an early lead in the 10th Minute. Stuart Green made a fine pass to David McMahon, he in turn chipped the keeper and it's 1 - 0 the toon. Sunderland did not give in too easy , indeed in the 28th minute they equalised with a header. It was fairly even up until the 58th minute when Paul Knight (pictured) came off and was replaced by James Coppinger.

Coppinger is the star of the Under 19's nowadays and his place on the bench was something of a mystery. The Darlington lad signed 10 months ago from our neighbours has come on leaps and bounds since his arrival . He made his present immediately and 5 minutes later he got the winner in a goalmouth scramble from an Andy Walker corner. The makems did try to come back but there was only ever going to be one winner. Just before the end of the game Newcastle had the chance to go 3 up when we were awarded a penalty. Unfortunately Gareth Macklins left footer was saved by the Makem keeper and it ended 2 - 1. Once again proving that Newcastle are the better team at any level and

Sunderland have no future!

half Newcastle United U19 2- 2 Middlesbourgh U19s

It was a goalless first half with just really one chance at each end. Boro scored first just after the restart. Newcastle equalised after a fine effort from McMahon beating 2 defenders and slotting in the equaliser. A defensive error saw Boro go ahead once again .The former Darlington player James Coppinger who is quickly becoming the star of the Nineteen side, saved the day in the 70th minute by scoring his 3rd goal in 2 games. Newcastle ended the more positive but it ended all square.

Newcastle United U17's 1- 0 Middlesbourgh U17's

A single goal was all it took to beat a pretty poor Boro side. It came from a Brian Kerr. the kick being headed in by Defender Gary Caldwell. It could have been 2 -0 just after the re start with a carbon copy corner kick, this time the young Scottish lad headed wide. Shola Amoebi came on for Collins with 20 mins to go but the Nigerian couldn't increase the scoreline and Boro looked the more likely to score.

Derby 2 - 2 Newcastle U19s

There was only the Under 19s played as Derby couldn't raise an U17s team!

Milwall 0 - 1 Newcastle united U17s

No sign of Shola Amoebi in the team today , is he ill or has he returned to Nigeria? They could have done with him in a game where the few chances Newcastle created , came to nothing. That was until the 83rd minute when Brian Kerr's cross found the head of peter wright .

Milwall 0 - 1 Newcastle united U19

Not much different in the U 9s game. Milwall had little to offer in the way of attack. James Coppinger scored just before the half hour mark. Newcastle only created a couple of other chances, David McMahon narrowly missed from a free kick and Broadbent blew a good chance in the second half

Newcastle united U17s 3 - 1 Leeds United U17s

Leeds took an early lead in this top of the table tie today, with a 30 yard piledriver from Alan Crawley. It was though to be their only goal with Newcastle coming back in the 26th minute with a header by Gary Caldwell from a corner by Brian Kerr. It was well into the second half when Wealleans took us ahead, then in the last minute Kerr got his name on the scoresheet with a good goal from distance.

Newcastle united U19s 0 - 1 Leeds United U19s

It was Deja vu today as a poor refereeing decision cost Newcastle the game. It came when striker Dave BroadBent found the net only for the ref to disallow it for a push on Leeds goalie ( GRAHAM POweLL) by the striker in the 36th minute. Newcastle dominated the match hitting the bar twice and were going for the win when Leeds scored in the 80th minute. Newcastle were the better side , but the better side doesn't always win.

Sheffield wed U19 3 - 0 Newcastle United U19s

The U19s were in top spot before todays game. The weather was awful the pitch was atrocious as it was with most of the games being played today. They will go top again when they beat the kids from Leeds next week, It's just a blip!

Sheffield Wed U 17s 0 - 4 Newcastle U17

4 Goals scored all in the second half in Monsoon conditions by Peter wright, Mark Boyd (pen), Kevin Garr and Anthony Parry knocked Sunderland off the top of the U17 league table. Newcastle U17s are now top, talking about Sunderland in last weeks games we beat them not once but TWICE.

Newcastle United 4 Sunderland 1

Aaron Hughes gets te firstIt was the big Derby day at Newcastle ground today as local rivals Sunderland are the visitors. Newcastle were on fire today and ended sunderlands unbeaten record with an easy 4 - 1 win. United included Northern Ireland international Aaron Hughes in the heart of defence as the regular centreback has not returned yet from International duty. Hughes was straight into action as the wearsiders dominated the opening half hour with Sunderland close to scoring on two occasions Newcastle came back and opened the scoring in the 36 minute. It came from a corner and guess who got his head to it? Aaron Hughes. it was going to be his day he was involved in much of the play at both ends of the pitch. It could have been 2 six minites later but our young striker with only the goalie to beat blasted it wide. He made amends just before half time latching onto Another 4-1 and its a good win for the toon.Hughes header the Youngster made it Newcastle 2 Sunderland 0 at Half time. Newcastle made it 3 , just 9 minutes into the second half. It came from the penalty spot and our Skipper rarely misses from the spot. Sunderland pulled a goal back through there substitute Stuart Ingram in the 71st minute. It was too little to late and The Newcastle number 9 made it 4 -1 after the Sunderland keeper made a bit of a hash of things late on.

Meanwhile on the other pitch Newcastle Beat Sunderland 1 - 0 .

Confused?

Newcstles Nigerian Star of the Future?I am of course referring to the youth Academy matches at Maiden Castle , in which our young lads thrashed Sunderland not Once but Twice. The Under 19s winning 4-1 and the Under 17s Wining 1- 0.

The star of the Under 17s has to be Nigerian striker Shola Amoebi . He scored the only goal of the game on the stroke of half time when he got onto the end of a cross from the left and volleyed it in from 8 yards out. he almost made it 2 , 8 minites into the second half, with the help of fellow striker Kevin gall. Indeed Gall himself came close to scoring just a few minutes later , only for the ball to be snatched from him from the Sunderland keeper. The under 17s game was a lot closer than under 19s, But a combined aggregate score of 5 - 1 over the auld enemy was a good result for the Newcastle lads.

And the stars of the future are
