Pictures of
the new stand taken by Steph and
Rik 26/04/99
This page is for all the Geordies , living
away from home, especially the blerk in Mooney Ponds Melbourne,
Australia, that keeps E mailing me with Adult web site addresses who
keeps on asking me for pictures of the temple of St James, to remind
him of home .
YOU ARE SICK ......
Anyway every few months we will be updating
the pages to show you what's happening in Newcastle.

Remember Blenhiem Street? It's changed. Gone are most of the Asian
clothes warehouses and the dodgy car dealers. In it's place is a Dual
carriageway leading from the Redheugh bridge straight to St James'
(the cranes and new tier can be seen in the centre of the picture.
this is the junction with Westgate road. |

At the top of the new western Boulevard is a new mini roundabout and
the new St James' park. To the right of the picture is the St James'
metro underground station, the land above having also been purchased
by NUFC. Are they planning to expand the Exhibition stand as well? |

The brickwork has started to cover the framework over the last few weeks. |

The black platforms at the top are situated right at the back of the
seats. It's gonna be hell of a view from up there |

The new stand will be twice as tall as the existing stand. It is
already overhanging Barrack road . the small building in the bottom
right corner of the picture in the middle is the old public toilets.
On the top right photo is the Entrance to the tunnel. The area beyond
the white gates is a tunnel that runs the entire length of the new
stand to the rear of the old stand. It is to be a crescent shape When
complete it will come out at Leazers terrace (on the left). this is
the opposite corner to the above photos. If you have a spare £50
then you can have a flagstone with your name sand blasted onto it
laid on the floor new tunnel concourse. Good idea but FAR TOO EXPENSIVE. |

Whilst taking the pictures a workman came up to me and told me of an
important archeological find last week.
MACKEM BEER FOUND UNDER NEW STAND A True Story.... Exclusive to Riksplace
A bottle of Vaux beer, favoured ale of the knuckle dragging Mackems
of Teeside, has been dug up by workmen during excavations for the
stadium expansions at St James Park. With label intact and a
"Best Before" date of 1987, builders opened the bottle to
see what 12 years of being underground would do for the distinctive
flavour of the Chimp Juice. Sources reveal that upon tasting Geordie
brickies collapsed and vomited, saying "that tastes like weak
camel p**s". Vaux breweries are understood to be tracking down
the bottle for analysis in order to improve the current batch.
Brewery insiders are said to be "dead chuffed" that their
ale brought about "camel p**s" remarks and will be
releasing a special edition version based on the ancient ale to
celebrate Sunderland's promotion to the premiership. |

More picture's coming soon. We could actually use a good ariel photo,
so that the huge scale of the stadium can be appreciated.
unfortunately we don't have a helicopter. SO... do you have access to
a chopper? If so get yourself up and get a picture or two from 500
feet. then E mail it to riks@globalnet.co.uk....Thankyou
