St James' Park 2001

St James' park will have a capacity of over 52,000 for the 2001 - 2002 season. The total cost of developing the new stands has been a colossal £45 million. This will be re paid over a 15 year period.

Average prices of the seats went up slightly on the 1999 -2000 season, But NUFC, still seem intent on going ahead with the new corporate sections. Full details haven't as yet been disclosed by Newcastle United, although they have sent out brochures to local businesses outlining plans for the new boxes and posh seats. (They didn't send me one)

Here's a guide to ticket prices ,

The SJH stand.

The South stand, or exhibition stand as it was known , from where this picture was taken, will cost the same as the lower tier of the SJH stand. £392 for Adults and £241 for children. The boxes in the East stand will be removed in the summer and replaced with seats, many of which will be occupied by displaced Milburn stand fans. The Family enclosure will be moved to what will be the central section of the SJH stand. It is to be expanded, and the club have stated that there will be pre and post match entertainment , Computer games, Fast food outlets and even a soft play area, behind the enclosure. Prices will be a very reasonable £125 per child with accompanying adults paying £299 . Looking at United's plan of the ground though I think it will though be far too small for the demand that this area will create.

Fans who currently Occupy this area will be relocated, mainly to the lower part of the higher tier. There is no mention of the BAR 1892. Is it still to be expanded?

The Away fans will have an area of some 3,000 in the top corner. As not that many away fans come to watch their team, this area will no doubt become an area in which weekly tickets can be purchased.

The Milburn stand

The new corporate boxes have been pushed further back , allowing for more seats to be put in the Platinum club. Some could cost up to £28,000 a season. The sky and press box seems to have been relocated further back and to the left of the family enclosure.

Newcastle have still not announced what is to become of the enlarged central area. In which grey suits have replaced black and white shirts . This is the area that will cost £1350 per season .

Looking ahead, here's what it will be like watching Newcastle from the Gallowgate at the start of the new season
