Newcastle play shit in London and lose 2 - 0 to West Ham,

Latest Match Update is here (press reload)

Ruud Gullit has stated that he wont be buying anyone before the Transfer deadline. Well in that case it looks like the INTER TOTO cup is going to be the only way into Europe this year if we don't beat Spurs in the cup, as this team will not make the top 5 this season.

Todays line up with ratings

GIVEN = 5 , give him a break , give Harper a game.

GRIFFIN, = 6 stick with him , potentially a great player for the future

CHARVET, = 6 not a centre back, canny as right back

DABIZAS = 4 not a defender

DOMI = 7 a great buy , if only we had a few more like him

MARIC =6 Not match fit , and where is he going to play?

GEORGIADIS.= 5 let him go Ruud

SPEED = 6 A bad day

SOLANO.= 6out of position on the left hand side

SHEARER = 5 ran around a lot, got no service , needs a couple of wingers

SAHA = 6 Still not sure, keep him on loan and judge him at the end of the season.

LEE = 6 steadied the ship when he came on, why didn't he start?

Ketsbaia = If one of his runs had paid off he would have been a hero , but they didn't so he gets a 5

We are still 3 players short of being a good team, A 3rd striker (Saha and Kits are too hitty missy) I hear that Jansen scored a couple today, WE COULD HAVE HAD HIM.

ONE left winger who is injured in our team is a pathetic situation to be in Why didn't we get Keith O'Neill. HE WAS AVAILABLE,WE COULD HAVE HAD HIM He is now a Boro player, they won today.

The third spot is a centre back, If I were Ruud I would bring back Albert from Fulham as cover and put Hughes in the front line. Take the money on offer from Olyimpiakos for Dabizas and Georgiados. Put the money into the bank and wait till the good centre half's are available in the summer as there don't seem to be any around at the moment.

Thursday 18th March

Stevo's Full "Ruud Gullit interview" translated into English is now on this web site (link on main page). Ruud himself is on a Metro radio phone in at 6 pm tonight.

Ruud Gullit sent his scouts out to watch Celta Vigo play Marseille on Tuesday night. At first it was assumed that they were their to keep tags on the french lads who are being squeezed out of the team by the likes of Ravinelli and other imports (as reported last month). It seems though that the target of scrutiny was 23 year old Spanish defender Michel Angel Salgado. "Michel" as he is know in Spain is unlikely to be available this side of the transfer deadline a week today.

Andreas Anderson scored last night...In the reserves against bottom of the table Blackpool. We won 1-0 , By all accounts Griffin had the best game and may well be in line for a recall on Saturday.

The under 18 youth team Quarter final at Gateshead last night was a goalless bore draw. James Coppinger was the best of the youngsters on display with a few chances later in the game. The replay will be at the riverside in a couple of weeks.

Keith O'Neill may not be going to Boro after all. He is stalling to see if any other clubs come in for him. It is still unclear wether or not Ruud Gullit will try to snatch him from Boro, using Paul Dalglish as the bait. Bruce Rioch the Norwich manager is believed to have spoken again to Newcastle about a £700, 000 deal which is the money that they will receive from Boro for O'Neill.

GO ON RUUD SNAP HIM UP, he's a class player. and we need someone like him. You said it yourself, we had 5 top midfielders but non of them good on the left until Glass arrived and he is injured. If we Need 3 keepers then we surely need 2 left wingers.O,Neill can even play as a forward , kill 2 birds with one stone.

Visitors will have noticed that I eventually got the "LOCAL HERO" theme tune on the main page. I need to cut the good bit out of the midi file but don't know how to. If you can help please get in touch. I am leaving it hidden for now so that no one can steal it, Once you leave this site it will go off.

Wednesday 17th March

A couple of strange NUFC transfer rumours today. The first one is the French leagues leading striker. Sylvian Wilford. He plays for Bordeaux and was in the french side that beat England at wembley a few weeks ago.

Even stranger is the fact that goalkeeping coach Terry Gennoe has been to Denmark this week to take a look at "The new Schmichael?" 21 year old Danish lad Jimmy Neilson. The 6 ft 4 " keeper is keen to return to England after a smell on loan to Milwall a couple of years ago. Aalborg , his current club are asking in the region of £1.5, Both newcastle and Derby are both interested.

It is believed that Neilson would not be a replacement for either harper or Given. He would be in addition to the two good keepers already at the club. So far this year we have been fortunate in that there have only been a couple of small knocks to shay and harper has coped very well. what if one of them has a long term injury? would we want to rely on Perez or Peter Keen?. well thats the clubs thoughts on the matter I think that one of our two lads may be cold at the end of the season.

Talking about transfers, have you made one on the Riksix@side competition? If not It's tuff the transfer window is closed. the latest points from the weekends game is on the Footy Competition page.

A big footy story is about to break, concerning NUFC at the moment I have some sketchy details, when I get the full facts I will post it here, so

catch you later.

Tuesday 16th march

Another huge disappointment for me this morning is the news that one of the best Left Wingers Keith O'Neill will probably be joining Boro this week. A fee of only £700k has been accepted by Norwich.

It's unbelievable that Ruud hasn't gone for him, he must see what we all see, A fine young player that will flourish in the Premier league. Since Glass has been injured the left wing has been a huge problem. Brady, Speed and Georgiados have failed to make an impact on the Left. None of them are left Wingers. there is only one of them sat the club and he is injured. At a mere £700 k even the likely wage demands of up to £1 million a year would still make O' Neill a bargain buy. Robbo has seen this ,so why hasn't Ruud? Perhaps he has someone better lined up, but I don't know of any, we shall see what materialises.

There may still be time to jump in and snatch O'|Neill, Norwich wanted Dalglish , would a straight swap not have benefited both players and both clubs? Looks like along with Jansen, Dublin and Stone, yet Another top player has slipped through the net and signed for our rivals.

Monday 15th march,

It's transfer deadline day in England later next week , so there may well be some panic buying and selling at lesser clubs. The rumour merchants are still at it, Yesterday it was Sunderland's Michael Bridges, who just live s doon the road, coming to Newcastle. He is a canny player but we have better, a statement that was echoed in the Newcastle camp earlier on.

Today's rumour was that the Taribo West deal may be back on..I think not, He snubbed us once, so we won't be interested in him any more.

After Saturdays game I think it is clear that although we are a lot better than we were last year, we still have a long way to go. Having said that with Ferguson due back possibly next week, Howey the fortnight after , Only Stephen Glass is the long term injury worry with no sign of a recovery date. He is our only left winger so perhaps a left winger would be more urgently needed than the central defender that everyone else is going on about . Looks like Dabizas will eventually be the one to make way as his defending has not been good recently. My money is still on Alain Goma or Marcus Babel. I don't really think we will land either this week , despite Ruud Gullit and Mr Shepherd saying the chequebook is not closed till the end of the season ,I think it may well be. If I hear anything more than made up crap I will post it on here.

It's the Biggie today, and not a spare ticket to be had at any price for the visit of Man United to St James's park today.

Newcastle are supremely confident and are looking to repeat the HOWAY Five O performance of 20th October 1996. Unfortunately Andy Cole scores a couple of good goals and we lose 2 -1, match report and piccies tomorrow.

Thursday 11th March

The Big Story of the day concerns GAZZA , read all about it in THE SCUM IS HERE

More " International Toon panelists " give their views today on Ruud Gullit (click on)International Toon talk is here!

Steve Howey who was injured last night will be out for 3 weeks with a calf strain. Gary Speed pulled out of the match at half time as he has flu will find it difficult to make the big game on Saturday, which means that the new Predic T it girl has the team wrong already, but hopefully not he score. (see front page).

The £91 million NTL takeover looks likely to go ahead, the MMC report comes out tomorrow on the Sky/ Man U takeover which will set the precedent for other takeovers. Riksplace can exclusively reveal that THEY HAVE PERMISSION to go ahead, so the Newcastle deal is likely to follow in the next few months. It will simply involve NTL buying up the Hall's remaining 51 % for now giving them a total of 57% of the club. The smaller shareholders including Mr Shepherd's share will for now remain unaffected.

Steve Stone is saying really nice things about Newcastle United and Ruud Gullit today, despite being snubbed by Ruud Gullit. It is common knowledge that Stone would do anything to join the club that he supports. Although he is an excellent player , it is difficult to see how Gullit (if he wanted him) could fit him into the team.

And Finally my LOCAL team Whitley Bay , who are having trouble paying their part time players wages, arranged a fund raising match last night. They played the Magpies XI at Hillheads, although they hardly advertised the event. I live a mile from the ground and didn't know it was taking place. The score ended up 4 - 2 to the Magpies with Paul Dalglish, McClen, Robinson and Burt scoring for the MAGS, Priest and Liddle scoring for Whitley Bay. They have also arranged for Lee Clarke and Alan SHEARER to attend a talk in at the Seahorse club. When I get more details I will let you know and we can give them a bit of support. Perhaps I should offer my advertising services FREE to the Local lads to try to boost their average attendance which is currently only 150 per match.

Wednesday 9th march

Newcastle traveled to Nottingham today with a strong squad to choose from especially in midfield. With Maric, Georgiadis and Lee all coming in and performing well on Sunday, Gullit had a problem in who to leave out? 4 into 7 won't go so there were bound to be a few disappointed players. On the other hand they may be rested with one eye on the Man U game on Saturday.

So onto tonights game and the Team News was that there are 3 changes from Sundays starting 11.

GIVEN

BARTON......CHARVET......HOWEY....DOMI

MARIC...HAMMAN...SPEED...GEORGIADOIS

SHEARER....SAHA...

subs, Harper, Kets, Lee,Dabizas,Solano.

Howey gets injured in the 20th minute, Dabizas replaces him. Strange refereeing sees Newcastle awarded a penalty in the 45th minute, for ?????, converted by Shearer. Immediately Forest get one back as Newcastle go to sleep and Dougie Freedman scores. The second half see's Lee coming on for Speed. Forest go down to 10 men after a french blerk gets a second yellow card. Hamman gets the winner with a screamer from 35 yards on 73 mins. Maric lasts 90 mins , final score 2-1. we get 3 points Full Match report tomorrow.

Elsewhere Man U beat Chelsea in the FA Cup replay and play Arsenal at Villa park on Monday 12th April. In the league Leeds beat out likely cup opposition 2 -0 in the league who we overtake to go into 10th in the league 6 points from a UEFA spot.

Looks like Steve Stone who had hoped to be sold to Newcastle United when Forest get relegated will have to look elsewhere. he was quite impressive tonight, but our Midfield is full up with good players and Gullit issued a statement yesterday condemning Steve Stone for his remarks over Van Hoidonk. It seems that It's OK for Stone to criticise PVH for wanting to leave the club at the beginning of the season, but now Stone is saying that he will leave at the end of the season if (when) Forest go down.

Ruud has a point there Steve......
