Mist Cooling

A piped water system which can be installed outside or inside buildings with misting nozzles fitted at designed intervals.

Mist nozzles are attached to the pipework by means of push 'tee' fittings. The nozzle emits a micro mist of moisture into the atmosphere which rapidly evaporates causing a temperature reduction in the air. This natural technique achieves a cool refreshing environment. Alternative techniques may be used to create a light rain effect beneficial to promoting preening in poultry or using air movement to create surface cooling.

Systems are available to control humidity within a building.

Animal behaviour can be modified by strategic positioning of the system. For example pigs may be encouraged to maintain the correct clean bedding areas and dirty area during periods of high ambient air temperature.

Fitting a system to a milking parlour entrance provides a 'fog curtain' which restrains insects from entering, and allows cooling of the livestock.

Components for the low pressure system consists of a black polyethylene pipe fitted at intervals with a PVC push fit tee into which the misting nozzle is installed. Each nozzle has an inbuilt stainless steel mesh filter. The system has an adaptable inlet manifold with the supply water controlled manually or automatically.
