| Politics. I have been a member of the British Labour Party since 1995 and am active in my home branch. In Oxford, I took advantage of the numerous key political figures and journalists who appeared to speak in lectures and discussion groups. I was also able to do this extensively during my time in Washington. In December 1999, I was also able to organise a job shadow of NATO communications officer Jamie Shea in which I attended press conferences and sat in broadcast interviews and press briefings with Lord Robinson during NATO Defence Minister's conference in Brussels. | |||
| Hiking and Camping. I am a keen hiker both at home and abroad. I have used these skills on trips around the Canadian Rockies, Appalachian Mountains and Yorkshire Dales. | |||
| Debating. I have a continued interest in debating and public speaking from school. Since coming to Oxford I have spoken at the Oxford Union and regularly attended debates there. | |||
