The Ground Work
Back Home Up Next

Approximately 100 Tons of clay and soil needed to be removed from the bank.  This was taken away in four trailer loads of 25 Ton.  If I had done this with a wheel barrow and spade it would have taken years!

The ground work, which included, removal of the bank, levelling, digging a foundation for the retaining wall and concrete poor was all accomplished by one of my friend's contacts.  This guy (Darren) has been driving machines all his working life and is very skilled at his job.  This is especially so in my case, as the access to the site was very narrow and the actual site size was very small compared to what he is used to working in.  Despite all this, he was able to use his skill and judgement to gauge the correct machine sizes to get the job completed in a very short time scale and in turn kept costs down.

If you are considering having ground work that is of a similar nature, and you are located in the East Sussex (Preferred) or West Sussex area, then I would recommend him.  He does not advertise and relies on word of mouth to get his jobs.  If you wish to have a quote then email me and I will pass on your details and he can then arrange a time to visit and give you a quote.
