Hayley: Amanda Webster

Hayley was one of the original characters in the 1989 Pilot Series. She was retained as a character until the 1991 series. Hayley was popular with the other Grovers, but had a distinctice ambition which individualised them from her. She came from a single-parent family, which prompted her to take a part time job before she was officially old enough. She was dismissed from her job after she was accused of theft, although her name was later cleared.

She became friends with new-comer to Byker Grove Charley, in the 1990 series, and the pair became interested in singing careers, However they were decieved by medallion man Steve Rettega and their dreams of stardom were ruined. Hayley left the Grove soon after, and was last heard of performing in local pubs and clubs.
