Episode 1: 1997 Series 9

Principle Characters: Rob, Terry, Ben, Harry, Cher.

Ram-raiders burst into the Grove, but are stopped by Rob, Terry and Ben, although it is Rob who takes all the credit. Harry and Cher's feud continues, and Cher steals Harry's idea for a synchronised swimming team at the Grove. A pool tournament is to be held at the Grove, and Terry is furious when Karen teams up with Rob, against him and Ben in the competition. Flora's conscience is pricked by tales of Phillip's poverty-striken life.

 

  Episode 2: 1997 Series 9

Principle Characters: Rob, Brigid, Cher, Phillip, Flora

Brigid tries to sort things out with Rob, but it all goes wrong after everyone learns that Rob was infact in the Grove hiding during the night of the ram-raid. Phillip, Terraise and Jack have some serious scheming to do after Flora and Anna apply for Phillip to appear in the little treasure tv programme. Cher steals money from the Grove cash box to cover the expenses for the synchronised swimming coach, but is caught out by Sian.

 

  Episode 3: 1997 Series 9

Principle Characters: Harry, Cher, Terry, Karen, Rob

The "Night of a thousand balls" - Alfie's pool competition is a failure after Terry and Ben win the tournament after Karen deliberately pots the black. Cher is being terrorised at the Grove, but doesn't realise that Harry is behind it all - she even plants broken glass in her bag. Brigid wins the free meal for two at Toon Pizza.

 

  Episode 4: 1997 Series 9

Principle Characters: Harry, Cher, Karen, Terry, Rob

Terry is furious with Karen for cheating to let him win, and calls off their relationship. Karen slips Rob an anonymous note, informing him she cheated. Rob challenges Terry to a re-match and the two end up becoming mates. The lads have gone competition crazy, and Ed has entered them in the new soft drink competition. Brigid invites Cher to join her for the free meal at Toon Pizza, only this enrages Harry. Harry and Cher confront after everyone else has left the pool, the pair begin to fight after Cher learns Harry was behind all the things that had happened to her. Cher motions to strike Harry, but Harry is too quick and holds her under the water......

 

  Episode 5: 1997 Series 9

Principle Characters: Cher, Harry, Brigid, Alfie, Leanne

Cher manages to escape Harry's clutches and has her arrested for attempted murder. New girl Leanne arrives in Newcastle and teams up with Brigid, who is sinking into a depression. Leanne causes quite a stir with Alfie, who has her to join the new soft drink competition. Sita and Terraise have a talk with Cher and explain things to her from Harry's point of view. Cher decides to drop the charges, but Harry tells her they can never be friends again. Alfie and Leanne share a kiss.

 

  Episode 6: 1997 Series 9

Principle Characters: Leanne, Alife, Brigid, Terry, Rob.

Leanne insists to Alfie that their relationship is kept secret from Brigid. Brigid's excercising turns into an addiction, and her eating pattern is erratic. The Spacer Race begins, and Ed, Flora and Rob win it for the Byker Team, whilst Alfie and Leanne spend some time together. Terry and Brigid are brought closer together after Brigid is left waiting for Leanne to meet her. Rob wants Brigid to give him another chance and arranges a date through Terry who, by accident, tells Brigid to go to the wrong McDonalds.

 

  Episode 7: 1997 Series 9

Principle Character: Alfie, Brigid, Leanne, Karen, Cher

Brigid's condition worsens and she refuses to accept Rob's explanations. The Byker team are through to the final stage of the Spacer Race Soft Drink Competition. Brigid hears Alfie boast to the lads about the things he and Leanne got up to. Ben and Jack take an interest in Terraise. Phillip and Jack become manager's of the Grove's first all-girl band. Sita auditions for a singing part in a local musical, but is turned down flatly by the racist producer. Brigid becomes convinced that Alfie has raped Leanne. Alfie wins the day for the Byker Team in the Spacer Race but is confronted by Brigid.

 

  Episode 8: 1997 Series 9

Principle Characters: Brigid, Alfie, Ed, Leanne, Terraise

Anna is horrified to hear the rumors about Alfie and Leanne. Sian also hears the rumors and interrogates Alfie. Ed, tells Alfie he must sort things out with Leanne, as only she can tell everyone the truth. Karen and Cher become their own managers, only Cher's rivalry with her cousin Kelly makes her volunteer the band for a gig they aren't ready for. Luckily, they manage to persuade Sita to join them. Leanne and Alfie make up and put down the rumors doing the rounds at the Grove. Brigid is enraged to learn of Leanne and Alfie's relationship. Terraise becomes concerned about Brigid and tells their dad she's not eating properly. Brigid escapes the house and goes for a jog. Terraise, Terry and Rob go looking for and find her in the back of an ambulance...

 

  Episode 9: 1997 Series 9

Principle Characters: Brigid, Rob, Terry, Harry, Ben

Brigid returns home from hospital. Harry's father comes to visit her and gives her £10,000 from his winnings. He explains that he's leaving Newcastle and will probably never see her again. Terry visits Brigid, and Flora becomes suspicious of his motives. Harry gives some of her money to Ben and his new mate from school Ollie. Cher, Karen and Sita lock themselves in the cellar and rehearse for Cher's Grandad's party. Harry also gives Jack some money, but he tells the others at the Grove. Alfie, in an attempt to impress Leanne decides to hold a welcome back party for Brigid, and Harry agrees to fund it. Ollie's sister, Nat arrives at the Grove and takes an interest in Harry and her money. Ollie and Ben break into the attic resulting in Ben almost falling through the loose floorboarding and injuring his arm. The Party only serves to offend Brigid who goes outside and has a talk with Terry, however Rob interrupts things and asks Brigid if she will take him back. She agrees.

 

  Episode 10: 1997 Series 9

Principle Characters: Ben, Cher, Sita, Harry, Nat

Ben and Ollie lie to Lou about the attic, after Ollie believes Ben can claim for compensation. Lou visits Geoff at the Grove and decides to take legal action regarding the accident. Ben suffers a flash of guilt but Geoff isn't interested. Harry's dad's girlfriend, Gill visits Harry, but Harry resents her and blames her for her father leaving. Flora plans a sleep-over to be held at the Grove. Nat and Harry go shopping and buy friendship bracelets. Gill again visits Harry and takes her and Nat to the bowling alley, where Gill tells Harry she's pregnant. Rob begins to fear he is losing Brigid's interest. Nat discovers that Gill knew about the money, and promptly tells Harry. Cher, Sita and Karen perform at the Birthday party.

 

  Episode 11: 1997 Series 9

Principle Characters: Brigid, Terry, Rob, Harry, Nat

Sian decides that a reigister will be taking of everyone entering the Grove. Nat becomes more suspicious of Gill. Geoff agrees for the sleep-over to go ahead as planned. Terry decides to go to the sleep-over after talking to Brigid. Gill, Harry and Nat go to the greyhound-races. Nat, convinced that Gill is lying regarding the pregnancy tells her Harry is meeting her dad at 11:30pm at the Bus Station. Ed leaves Byker Grove and becomes a part-time helper at the city farm. Brigid and Terry rhendeveouz on the roof during the sleepover, and are almost caught by Rob, but he is distracted by Ben and Ollie who were trying to fly his boxers from the roof. Geoff bans Ollie and Ben from the Grove for a week. Nat tells Harry how she sorted Gill out, but Harry is furious and leaves the Grove to meet her at the bus stn. Gill refuses to believe Harry hasn't been in contact with her dad and takes her back home and locks her in the cupboard.

 

  Episode 12: 1997 Series 9

Principle Characters: Harry, Nat, Ben, Ollie, Brigid

Lou is furious when she learns the police are treating Harry as a runaway. Gill lets Harry out of the cupboard, in the day light Harry sees Gill's empty house. Gill takes her anger out on Harry initially, but later regrets it. Nat realises where Gill is and sneaks out of the Grove. Gill admits to Harry that there is no baby, but explains that she is in debt to loan sharks who are threatening her, money borrowed on Harry's dad's behalf. The loan sharks arrive at the house and smash the door. Gill tells Harry to leave, but she tells her she wants to help. Harry withdraws money for Gill from the cashpoint, but they are spotted by the police on their way back to the flat and Gill is arrested despite Harry's protest. The police later release Gill and Harry gives her the money she needs. Gill makes Harry promise to visit her. Rob is too caught up in his own self-glory to give attention to Brigid who sneaks off to meet Terry again. Ben and Ollie are forced to admit the truth regarding the accident in the attic and Geoff warns Ben to stop bothering with Ollie.
