Sita: Gauri Vedhara

Sita was first seen in the 1995 series of Byker Grove.

In 1996, Sita was responsible for the Grove's efforts at winning a tv game show. Sita supported Karen's campaign against Brigid but later relented and supported her. Sita took offence at the way Mat was treated by the other Grovers, and spoke out in his favour.

Sita's interest and talent in singing became evident in 1996 after she became one of the eternal sisters in the "Stars in Your Eyes" night at the Grove.

In 1997 Sita singing interest developed and she sang a solo at the "Night of a Thousand Balls" pool competition arranged by Alfie. Sita also tired a local singing audition but was rejected by the organiser, Sita believed that the rejection was due to the organiser's racist attitudes and was ready to give up singing but was persuaded by Sian to ignore the ignorance of others and to strive to succeed

Sita became friends with Karen and Cher and the trio turned their hands at everything, from performing as an all-girl group at Cher's grandfather's party, to running a disastorous baby-sitting business and offering advice on a local teen radio show.

Sita contributed to the protest arranged by Karen's mother concerning the closure of the homeless shelter and will be returning in the 10th Series of Byker Grove.
