At RHBNC Scott was elected as Chairman of the Conservative group in both 1992 and 1993, organising the group to support the local association in council and in general elections and hosting functions with Sir Teddy Taylor MP and Virginia Bottomley MP amongst others. Scott also established a RHBNC branch of the Bruges Group and organised a seris of popular debates on the European Issue.
In 1993, Scott was elected as Rag President and spent a year fund-raising for local and national charities.
In 1994 he graduated with a 2:ii and joined Marks and Spencer Plc on their graduate training scheme as a Trainee Merchandiser. After completing his training in March 1996, Scott joined the lingerie retailer Knickerbox Ltd based in London. As Commercial Manager he was responsible for the developement, planning and implementation of commercial strategy across the UK and Franchise businesses. In 1999 Scott left Knickerbox and established his own consultancy company (www.tradeaccess.net), working with companies in the retail and service sector to achieve improvements in supply chain logistics and working practises.
In the 1998 local elections Scott successfully stood for council in the Northwood ward and was elected along with his colleagues, Cllr Albert Kanjee and Cllr Robert Benson. Scott was elected Chairman of the London Borough of Hillingdon Conservative group in 1999 and in the same year he joined the Parliamentary Candidates list as an approved national candidate.
