Set back and elevated slightly from the A592 Bowness - Newby Bridge road, this pill-box was quite difficult to find, being covered in moss and hidden beneath foliage. Its position is commanding, on the high side of the road with the watery expanse of Windermere on the other.
Similar in construction to that at nearby Haverthwaite, but having a solid, business-like anti-ricochet pillar within.
The pill-box has weathered well inside, and still has concrete rifle-rest shelves in place underneath some of the loopholes.
