WHERE THE GUNS WERE

Where the gun-floors stood.

The clifftops where the gun-floors stood. No: 1 Gun (the one nearest the dock) stood where the cliffs jut out. No: 2 gun stood 33 yards to the north of here. The area today is dominated by wind-turbines which stretch all the way to Flimby. The 'Iggisund' factory can be seen in the background, replacing the pyramidical spoil-heap of St. Helens Colliery which dominated the landscape from before WWII until the late 1960's.
