THE SITE OF THE SOUTH SEARCHLIGHT

Where the South Searchlight emplacement stood.

The delve in the embankment behind the patched-up sandstone blockade once contained the southernmost searchlight position. This searchlight was manually operated by HGs and 'Regulars' of the 406th Battery, and was a 90cm arc-lamp, powered from the generating plant behind the embankment.

There are still various lumps of concrete around the site today.
