GERALD M. WEINBERG TO RECEIVE THE 2000 STEVENS AWARDMay 5, 2000
Gerald M. Weinberg has been named the recipient of the 6th international
Stevens Award and will give the 2000 Stevens Lecture on Software Development
Methods. His
lecture, titled "Tools, Fools, Rules, and Schools - What Hinders Improvement in Development Methods?", will be given on Wednesday September 20, 2000 in Washington D.C. at the annual Software Engineering Symposium of the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). |
He seems to have an endless stream of relevant anecdote and insight, logically combined into a thorough, systematic and highly practical analysis of his subject. Typically, at the end of each chapter he suggests some tasks for the reader. Whenever I'm reading or rereading one of his books, I know I ought to stop and think through the implications for my own work, but I can never resist plunging straight into the next chapter.
Another indication of the quality of his writing is the fact that several of my copies of his books have been borrowed and not returned.
