Diary

January

The month started off quietly. Long walks were pretty much out thanks to the weather and Sarah and Nigel seemed quite busy.

A few of the fence panels in the garden had come down so I even had to go in the garden on my flexi-lead until they were fixed.

On the bright side, I have more toys than I know what to do with. I have come up with a system to help me cope :

  1. Get top toy out of box
  2. Take toy into living room
  3. Repeat until all toys are in living room
  4. Nap. Its hard work lugging all them toys about

The toys also have a down side, sometimes they end up on my bed and then I have to either lie on top of them or try to position myself so that I lie between them. This can create some very uncomfortable sleeping positions - but I usually manage to nod off!

January also brought me another first - a bone. I wasn't really sure what to do with it but after a lot of hints I finally worked it out.

Just when everything seemed back to normal I am bundled into the car at the crack of dawn with Sarah and we drive to her mums. She didn't bring Nigel, maybe she forgot, he was still in bed.

We arrived at breakfast time, which was lucky cos I was just ready for my weetabix. Sarah's brother was there with his wife - he kept calling me his nephew. It was Sarah's mums 50th birthday, could this be why Sarah and Nigel had been so busy?

There seemed to be a secret, every time Sarah's mum came in everyone went quiet. Then at night everyone went out. When they came back they brought lots of people AND NIGEL. It seems there had been some sort of surprise party and Nigel's band had played. Anyway they came back with lots of leftover pies which were gorgeous. Everyone made a fuss of me but I'm not too keen on that so I found a quiet spot and had a nap.

While we were in Barrow we went to the beach. The tide was a long way out and there was no-one around so I was allowed to run off lead. I was so keen to get on the sand that I waded across a narrow bit of water - which amazed everyone cos I avoid puddles and mud like the plague. Once on the sand I ran mad figure eights and huge circles and had a great time. I was completely shattered when we got back so I had an extra long nap :-)

Although the weather wasn't great I enjoyed January - especially the pie!
