CDM Co-ordinator Services and CDM

Everyone involved in construction work needs to know about the Construction Design and Management (CDM) regualtions as it is a legal requirement to comply with them. Large fines can be imposed for non-compliance.

Simon Bastone has attended courses, meetings and seminars on the CDM regulations. We can therefore provide services to clients both independently and in parallel with design and other services. We act as CDM Co-ordinator in accordance with the CDM regulations.

The CDM Regulations are applicable for all projects and projects over a certain size require the appointment of a CDM Co-ordinator to ensure compliance with the regulations. The appointment of the CDM Co-ordinator should be instigated at the commencement of the design process.

The CDM regulations were drawn up to encourage clients and designers to consider health and safety at design stage. It is a misconception that the regulations relate to general health and safety such as the wearing of protective clothing such as hard hats. This is not correct as these issues are covered by other legislation.

A significant revision to the regulations came into force on the 6th April 2007, further details are available on the HSE website: www.hse.gov.uk/construction/cdm
