The Flora of Suffolk has arrived in the post this morning. What an incredible publication, produced to such a high standard. Congratulations to you, Katherine and Richard on producing this flora. Prof. Michael B Usher

I have just received your wonderful Suffolk Flora and write to say how impressed I am. It is a beautiful production,

Martin Woodcock

Congratulations! I found it waiting for me here and it looks superb. With Herts last year and Suffolk this, the standard is going up at an alarming rate. The sheer amount of work you have both put into it is staggering - on the bryological side, more than any of us are likely to be able to accomplish in any of the neighbouring counties

Chris Preston

Congratulations on your Flora – it really is a triumph not just in its collected knowledge but in its beautiful presentation. Julian Roughton

First of all many, many congratulations on your Flora of Suffolk. What a fantastic piece of work and beautifully produced. A real joy to have in my library. very well done for an amazing piece of work. It will surely be the template for books of this type for years to come.  Derek Moore

The Flora is a credit to you - in content and also in physical appearance. I have little idea of just how many hours you spent putting it all together, but the end result is superb, Laurie Forsyth

Congratulations to you (and Richard Fiske) on a really excellent 21st century authoritative tome, beautifully produced, full of lovely pics, really interesting info and a brilliant reference for all of us dealing with plants in Suffolk. You must be really proud of that – and deservedly so. Well done and thanks from all the would be and real botanists of Suffolk!  Juliet Hawkins

It's a magnificent achievement and I congratulate you wholeheartedly upon its completion. I wasn't sure how/if you were going to be able to create a flora which had your personal stamp upon it. Now I have the proof. I am sure it will be getting rave reviews and quickly become established as the benchmark for future county floras. David Nash

YOUR BOOK LOOKS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS   Merle Leeds

Wow! What a superb piece of work. I would never have thought that so much detailed information could be put together at such a relatively low price and the quality is beautiful. Congratulations to all concerned

Steve Goddard

It looks very handsome, and I can't wait to start browsing in it.  Richard Mabey

What a splendid publication! The introductory pieces on geology, soil, climate and land management are very readable, and the detailed pieces on each species should, I hope, inspire me and many others to send in some data that are discovered while walking, though it will be hard indeed to match Stella's contribution. Geoff Knight

I just wanted to say what a delight your book is!  Stella Wolfe

Having spent most of yesterday evening drooling over your Flora, I have to say it is a terrific piece of work. Congratulations all round - it must, surely, set the benchmark to which all other floras must now aspire. I am inordinately pleased to have been able to help out in the production of such a terrific book. May it sell in millions. Robin Stevenson

Congratulations on producing 2.5kg of stunning data and photographs – you have done a splendid job. Francis [Simpson] will be saluting you!  Russell Leavett

Congratulations - it looks really good, the layout and illustrations are fantastic. Best wishes, Ian Bonner

Thank you also for your Suffolk Flora, which is stunningly produced. You must be extremely pleased with how it has turned out. The photos scattered through the text are a real plus point and will help show vascular folk just how distinctive some of our bryophytes are. Sam Bosanquet

I should have acknowledged the receipt of your excellent Flora before this. I had intended going through it before doing so, but you have covered so much ground, it needs far longer than I can spend at the moment. I'm not sure if it is good bedtime reading as it is rather knee flattening, but I shall continue to enjoy taking it a section at a time. Congratulations on both content and production. Gillian Beckett

I collected the book from the Linnean Society today and have been reading it with great interest - nay, fascination - on the journey home. You have certainly raised the bar in terms of including a wide range of relevant information, not least the maps. John Edmondson

I received my copy the other day and it is an amazing book. Adrian Chalkley

Many thanks for my copy. I am entranced! Very many congratulations on a wonderful book! Katherine and you must be very pleased and proud. Philip Oswald

A splendid production which must have required many hours of dedicated endeavour and one of which you can be justly proud. It is a book I will return to regularly not only as a point of reference but also as a source of inspiration and pleasure. It will certainly be a treasured possession. Richard Noble

Magnum opus, tour de force, masterpiece, Stunning success! David Walker

Your Flora is the best. Pat & George Gooden

The miles I plodded, leading the Norfolk recorders were well worth it. I imagine the amount of information you have managed to gather together for each species will set a standard that authors of subsequent county Floras will find difficult to achieve. Congratulations. Alec Bull

Thank you very much it is a beautiful book, will be useful too. Barbara Mathews

Congratulations on a splendidly produced Flora which I’m sure will receive universal acclaim. Arthur Copping

I received my copy this morning and wanted to tell you just how impressed with it I am! You must have put a lot of work into it – not including the massive amount of fieldwork you must have done. Many thanks indeed –it is a first rate record of the situation as it is now and importantly it details early records. Philip Stanley

Loving your fantastic atlas - a triumph. Rupert Kaye

Took receipt of A Flora of Suiffolk this morning. What a delight! This flora must surely set the standard and it will take pole position in my library. I have visited Suffolk a good many times over the last 40 years and never tire of the county. You are to be congratulated on such an informative and well produced publication. I do hope you get a good take up of the book. No one with any botanical interest should be without it. This reference work will stand for many years to come. David Proctor

Thanks for the copy of the book - just arrived today. Must say, it's a bit special and HUGE! How long has that taken you to produce? The photo looks great on the front, really makes the book stand out. I'm honoured to be part of it. Thanks again, I think a lazy Easter Sunday with a good book is definitely in order... Looking forward to your next volume :-)  Andy Bovingdon

I received the flora last week and just wanted to congratulate you on a very fine production! It is a fabulous Flora and I hope you feel justifiably proud of it. Mike Harding

Many congratulations on a magnificent new geographic flora! Since you delivered it to our door a few days ago I have had a chance to have a good look at it and it has been a delight. I particularly liked the 70 odd page introduction to Suffolk, which will be so helpful to me in putting some of the allied subjects to botany (like geology) into perspective. The habitat section will be invaluable to me in exploring those parts of Suffolk which are still relatively unknown to me. The layout is excellent and the plant photographs are both of good quality and cleverly fitted between the text. Peter Payne

I am reading my way through it and finding it a delight to read. It is attractive, colourful, informative and I like the information on the cultural uses of the plants. Our Flora of Perthshire is now over 100 years old, and the Suffolk Flora sets an example of how we Perthshire VCRs need to set our standards to deliver a long cherished aim of writing an up to date Flora. Alistair Godfrey

Many thanks and congratulations for the Flora! It is a fine piece of work, and I have especially enjoyed so far the Landscape History chapter, which I think is about the best of this sort of thing in any county Flora I remember, and the very extensive species accounts of some of the rarer or more interesting species. Climate chapter too is excellent, and I am very envious of your crop and livestock graphs in the Landscape chapter. Maps of the RDB and Scarce species are most interesting, also map of hedge density is fascinating (and presumably involved a lot of work). Arthur Chater

I must congratulate you on the quality of production of the volume.and very pleased to see it as an all English production; the Dorset Press has done a good job. Naturally, I was very pleased to see the bryophyte coverage. So thank you for putting it all together. Dr Tom Hose

Congratulations on the book it must be the best one yet! Ken Adams

I have just received my copy of your new Flora and I am writing to congratulate you on the book. It is good to find a flora which is presented with such clarity combined with detail and illustration – making the book thoroughly satisfying to read, consult and handle! Prof. Richard West
