This attractive species of damselfly has a distinctive blue-black band across the centre of each wing in the male. In Suffolk it is a typical species of the small, clean sluggish rivers meandering across open agricultural land. It is seldom found on the smaller streams or the lower reaches of rivers where there is a brackish influence.
