This map shows how closely the pattern of tilled land follows the distribution of boulder clay soils in Suffolk. The data is derived from a Landstat satellite survey which compares information from summer and winter views and assigns sites which are green in summer and brown in winter to this category. The pattern of grassland is almost exactly a negative image of that for tilled land.
